I recently booked this property for a family trip to Oceanside but, unfortunately, we did not end up staying. While the photos of the property look nice and it may be a suitable option for some, I would caution families with small children who are expecting close and easy beach access. The listing stated that the property was located three blocks from the beach, which was the primary reason we chose it. We arrived in Oceanside a few hours before check-in and decided to drive by the property and head to the beach with our children in the meantime. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find that the rental was actually located in the backyard of a larger main property and have to go through two gates to get to it—something that was not clearly communicated in the listing.Still willing to give it a try, we drove the three blocks down Cassidy Street, only to find that there was no actual beach—just steep, rocky cliffs and no accessible sand or shoreline. This was incredibly disappointing, especially for the kids, as our main reason for booking was to have easy walking access to a family-friendly beach. We attempted to cancel the booking through VRBO, but there was no option available. We contacted customer service, who placed us on a call with the owners. Unfortunately, they refused to issue a refund. One of the owners even remarked, “I can’t make sand appear,” which felt dismissive of our concern. In the end, we chose not to stay and lost over 1,200. I would have appreciated at l
