We have just returned from a 3 night stay which was very relaxing John, Sarah and Kelly made us feel very welcome The food was lovely and John was very helpful in providing routes of suitable walks The rest of the time was spent relaxing in the lounge with log burner to keep us warm The view from our room was a real treat despite inclement weather Would thoroughly recommend as a place to come and chill, walk and take in beautiful surroundings

We had a wonderful stay at Lydgate house and were very sad to leave. We booked at Lydgate House as my husband had a brilliant experience when he stayed for work in September 2021 and it didn’t disappoint. John, Kelly and Sarah were so welcoming and made our stay unforgettable with the amazing food and the nothing is too much approach . Can’t wait to come back for a longer stay.

Lydgate House gave us a wonderful stay in the heart of Dartmoor. Warm welcoming hosts, a lovely comfortable room with stunning views, a great range of breakfast dishes, and an imaginative a la carte dinner menu made for a perfect break. Our hosts, John, Sarah and Kelly, looked after us beautifully.

We spent the Christmas weekend here about 25 years ago and thought it was about time for a return visit. We were given a warm welcome by Sarah and Kelly - mince pies and mulled wine. Just what we needed after the long drive from Cambridgeshire. The room was very comfortable and they managed two beds as we requested. The food and service were excellent with particular attention to our dietary requirements. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't conducive to a trip out on Christmas Day, but we were well looked after - reading in the lounge by the log fire. Excellent company in the evening with the other guests. On Boxing Day we were able to go for a nice walk locally, followed by a longer drive around the moor. All in all, a lovely Christmas break well presented by Sarah, John & Kelly which we hope to repeat

Having stayed at Lydgate House 3 times before, we knew this would be the perfect place to see in the New Year, taking advantage of a 3-night package deal, arriving on December 30th and departing January 2nd. We were greeted with the customary very warm Lydgate House welcome and shown to our wonderfully comfortable room, with magnificent views over the valley. Each breakfast and dinner was as delicious as we remembered - high quality, locally sourced ingredients cooked beautifully. The excellent New Year's Eve dinner (black tie and glitz and glamour) was preceded by an equally lovely champagne and canapés reception, during which we met an immersive theatre group (already in character) who entertained us most excellently throughout the evening. After dinner, we all saw in the New Year together in the lounge, and continued chatting till the wee small hours. An altogether memorable evening! Sarah, Kelly and John always strive to ensure that every guest is well looked after and enjoys themself. They are warm, caring and interested, but never intrusive. This is why we keep coming back! Thank you, Sarah, John and Kelly for all your hard work which made this New Year's celebration so perfect!

I can’t praise them highly enough We had an absolutely fantastic stay and the level of service was exceptional. We enjoyed everything and if I could I would willingly give 6 stars. The food and ambiance were just perfect and nothing was too much trouble. Service and care as it was in days gone by absolutely perfect ThankYou. We will definitely be back.

Beautifully placed centrally of the Moor. Walking from the door; and short drives take you to some of England's least damaged countryside..... the archaeology is almost endless. Nice villages with independent shops and some good places to eat and drink from morning to night.

Thank you John,Sara and Kelly for making our break a really special one. Our every comfort was considered and John’s breakfasts were sublime! Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer..well done team Lydgate we will be back! Janey & Heather

Lovely cosy cottage with everything we needed for our week stay, close to the Bellevor forest and Tor which was beautiful and within a short drive to many attractions. As I was celebrating my 60th Birthday the cottage had been dressed with balloons and banners which made it very special, an ideal place to stay for 2 couples as we were
