We wanted to visit the Maldives, and make it a trip to remember, and that was the case. We wanted a resort far away from Male, and to experience the Sea Plane transfer, that was to add to the experience, that was also achieved. We wanted a villa that was private and private, so we picked the Over The Water Delux and it was utterly amazing, no one else could walk in front of your view, maybe snorkelers but the only on lookers constantly was Eagle Rays, Sharks and the stunning reef with crashing waves, crystal clear water and stunning sunsets. We had the Full Board package during our 5 nights, which was worth it, as you had the relax option to eat very well, drink when you wanted too, and dine in all restaurants when you were ready ( Sub6 and Surf Shack not included ). Food was really enjoyable, well portioned. The serving front of house staff well trained, and enjoyed being on the island, making you feel special, remembering your name almost straight away. You get a dedicated Thakuru ( butler ) who will be by your side if you need anything, drive you in the golf buggy if you needed, and will help you with a guide what and where to eat for lunch and dinner. Communication is done via your mobile on Whatsapp. Wi-Fi is pretty good, every major location has Wi-Fi, your villa being one of them. Peddle bikes are given to every guest, with your names on so there is no mistake who's bike is who's..and somehow, that system works well. The island is very easy to walk round, maybe takes a good hour if casually walking, or..use your bike ( or ask your Thakuru! for a buggy ride..which they'll do a quick tour on arrival ). Sub6, it is very expensive, but choosing not to enjoy this experience ( as per person is expensive ) I would of regretted it, and I am glad I did. Being below the Ocean is spectacular. Wasn't there for the Glow Party club night in Sub6 which is a small fee, if not free ( not as much as dining there for lunch ) but this is the cheaper way to experience the restaurant. The beaches are utterly stunning, what you'd expect being in the Maldives. Expect rain, expect overcast, but the blue skies all day and warm sunshine do happen. A small gift shop, jewellers..that's it. You are there to relax and to be happy. One small advice to HR, is that, the bikes MUST have lights fitted, you know how easily it can be for golf buggy not to see tourists. It's a cheap easy fix for the bikes. If you are thinking about Niyama, you won't be disappointed. Paying for Full Board may be the wiser option, vs pay for every wine and dine. The Sea Plane experience is fantastic, and Niyama looks after you from the arrival at Male to Niyama to Male to your departure. It is true your luggage is weighed, so make sure it's near the 20kg target, hand luggage ours wasn't weighed ( they say 5kgs ) Thank you to all at Niyama's staff and our amazing Thakuru, Shafeeg More Date of stay: November 2024
