We planned to ride the Shimanimo Kaido and saw that if you stayed that the U2 you could collect rental bikes from the giant store the night before giving you an early start. So we booked. Alas the store isn’t open on a Tuesday (out research had lead us to believe only the Imabari store was closed on Tuesdays) and so we had to wait until the following morning to get bikes and set off. The room was lovely and I slept really well here but the room lacks sufficient lighting and is very dark and is easy to lose things. The bath was enormous but being made just of brick it was quite cold in winter and took a lot of filling. We weren’t told that drinks etc were available in the laundry room and so we felt a bit annoyed to have paid quite so much for a room without a kettle. Only after I did some washing did I find this facility. The hotel offers plenty room to store bikes and has tools to use and even zwift set up. It is in a lovely setting of an old warehouse with a great restaurant etc. We ate breakfast, lunch and evening meal across the two days and all were good. Lastly the hotel stored our luggage overnight while we rode to Imabari and back for just 500 yen which was much appreciated. The hotel had a lovely vibe and I felt very relaxed there. Would happily return and recommend.

This bicycle friendly hotel caters to cyclists as it’s on the popular cycling route and close to the train station and ferry terminal. Staff are super friendly and helpful. This warehouse that has been converted to a restaurant with shops and hotel is contemporary and inviting. The coffee shop serves yummy lattes. Breakfast is included.

This hotel is such a welcoming place. The staff always take really good care of us. We recently enjoyed our vacation there and the staff, Miss Okana and Filipino staff in charge of the dining room are really good care of us. I will always recommend this place to a friend.

Room too small for 2 people and given there isn't a window, overhead lighting insufficient to see. Kind of cool vibe but I really didn't need to pay so much ($250+) Breakfast is meager, dinner also meager and expensive. We did the Shimano ride and this is a good launch point. However, I'd stay elsewhere. Staff extremely kind and helpful.

This hotel offers so much more than a comfortable room. The complex includes a restaurant, bakery, cafe, shop and bike rental right on the water. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The room was small but had everything I needed. I was on the second floor facing the street but the room was quiet and private. Excellent in-room coffee and great linens. The bathroom is big(!) and complete with a shower and soaking tub. There are bikes set up on trainers for use by the guests and the hotel is minutes from the ferry for the start of the Shimanami Kaido. Onomichi U2 is a perfect mix of offerings in an ideal location.

My favorite hotel when I travel to this area. Big, Modern and comfortable rooms. All kind amenities available. Good variety for breakfast. Nice coffee! Great sightseeing from the terrace to the port. Easy to acces. Friendly staff with good English

It is in an extremely convenient location, 200 meters from Onomichi Station, and right next to Shimanami rental bicycles and the ferry terminal. ●Room Although compact, it has a functional structure that does not feel cramped. The darkness of the light is a little bothersome at first, but once you get used to it, it's no problem. ●Amenities 2 bottles of water free of charge. Apparently it's water from a well, and it tastes good. Shampoo and body soap also have an addictive smell. This is a brand I've never heard of before, and it has a scent that you don't often find in Japan. It was the best bath time. ●Breakfast Fresh vegetables and a variety of dressings. Bread and croissants with a solid wheat texture. And delicious citrus jam. The juice is also delicious. And the sausage, bacon, and potato sauté with eggs is a perfect balance and satisfies you. It was a great meal, with great attention to detail in every ingredient and taste. ●There are 3 laundry machines, 600 yen for 120 minutes including drying. Free coffee and cookies are available in the laundry room. The cookies are sprinkled with Belgian cinnamon and are addictingly delicious. A fairly high quality hotel. When I made the reservation, I thought the price was a little high, but after staying there, I was quite satisfied. Recommended.
