Reviews of Thon Hotel Opera

We arrived quite late, but luckily the hotel's location was incredibly convenient, right outside the station. The service was excellent, and while the room was small, it was very cozy. The entire hotel had a high-quality feel to its decor. Breakfast was also delicious, living up to its five-star reputation. I'll definitely stay here again if I get the chance!

Not great service for a 4*. Had to beg for a spare charger when I left mine on the office. Eventually they let me borrow it. Amenities just wasn’t up to standard and rooms are thin and can be noisy. Location good.

Great breakfast and a very convenient location right next to the central train station. My only minor complaints are that the room was a bit small and noisy, but otherwise, no issues.

Pleasant stay, though they're going through a (temporary) renovation so this impacted us, we had to ask for a room change as we were initially provided with one with unpleasant smell. Apart from this, staff was helpful and breakfast was very good for european standards.

It was super convenient to get to the airport. I spent half a day exploring the library and art gallery, then headed straight to the airport. Very convenient, and the stay was comfortable too.

The hotel's location is excellent, right next to Oslo S station. It's about a 7-10 minute walk to the MUNCH museum, and we walked from the DFDS cruise terminal in about 15 minutes. The hotel rooms look a bit dated. The staff were all very welcoming. The shower stall was a bit small, and I'm not sure if all Norwegian shower stalls have this corner bifold door design, which made it hard to hold onto.

Excellent location, just walk out from Oslo station and you can see the hotel and have access to the hotel’s level 2 directly. Easy access to airport. Arrived late at night. Check in process was efficient. Staff was polite and offered me a free bottled mineral water which was a kind gesture as the waters/drinks in mini fridge are chargeable. Small compact room but sufficient. Kettle and steam iron available in the room which are very useful. The room is too cold for me though, I think it is around 20-21degC, I tried to adjust temperature to be warmer to 24degC but it was not possible. The restaurant staff are polite and friendly especially the staff at restaurant reception. Good breakfast, plenty of choices, particularly I like the fresh juice/smoothies. Overall a comfortable stay and recommended.

The location is unbeatable. You can see the side entrance of the hotel right outside the central station. The main entrance is just a 200-meter walk to the Opera House and the Munch Museum. The room itself was standard, nothing special, but surprisingly, despite being close to the railway, there was no noise. The breakfast was the best we had on our entire trip. The restaurant staff were exceptionally good – always smiling, greeting everyone. They even tried to say "Ni hao" in Chinese when they saw Asian guests. Oslo is small and doesn't take many days to explore, so this hotel is a no-brainer for getting over jet lag and resting up.

Located right next to the Central station, which was a massive lifesaver for us with 4 pieces of luggage on icy snowy road. We were able to check in earlier than 3pm and were quickly greeted with a clean and spacious room, complete with all basic amenities that you would expect to be provided including a kettle. Another highlight was the breakfast, with a wide range of options including gluten free and vegetarian / vegan options all clearly labelled. They also have takeaway cups for coffee to go. All in all, would recommend this to anyone who's having a short stay in Oslo that appreciates the convenient location and decent breakfast.

Great location, right next to the train station. It's convenient to walk everywhere. The only thing is you have to carry your own luggage to the room.

Rooms in Europe are generally on the smaller side, but the location here is absolutely excellent. It's just across the street from the Oslo Opera House and very close to the Central Station.

The location of the hotel is just right next to the Oslo S, which is super convenient and easy to get around. And the breakfast, we just love it, lots to choose from (delicious too) and good coffee.

The single bedroom that booked last May 17-18 was spotless and friendly staff. Highly recommended!
