Tsugaike Kogen Guest House Chatelet Yamabiko

After checking in, the hotel charged us an extra 3,000 yen, saying it was for heating. This was the first time I'd ever encountered this, and I thought it was outrageous!

The accommodation is a large guest house next to the Tsugaike ski slopes (you can walk there). It is near a ski rental shop, restaurants, and convenience stores. The owner, the uncle and aunt, are lovely and take very good care of you. When you check in, the uncle will introduce you to the different rooms in the house. Although the bathroom is shared, it is very clean. (You have to sign in to reserve the shower room for privacy. You can use it for 30 minutes per time.) (The accommodation also has a very cute fat cat.)

The hotel facilities are a bit old, and the walls aren't thick enough to allow you to hear me outside. If you're sensitive to noise, I suggest you consider this carefully. There's a ski resort right next to the hotel, and the hotel has a convenient area for storing ski equipment. Breakfast and dinner are available for an extra fee, and the food is quite good. The owners, a husband and wife, are very kind. Because it was peak ski season, my car arrived in Tsugaike very late, around 11:30 PM, and they waited for me. On the day I checked out, it was snowing heavily, and they were very worried about me traveling alone, so they gave me a ride to the station, for which I was very grateful. They only speak Japanese, but they are very willing to chat with different people. If I go skiing in Tsugaike again, I will definitely stay here again.
