Dormy Inn Premium Otaru Natural Hot Spring(Reopening on August 1, 2026)

The room was a bit small, and there were hairs on the towels. However, the hot spring was great; it's rare to find one like this in the city center. They also offered complimentary ramen, ice cream, and comics at night. The breakfast was quite luxurious for a business hotel, but we had to wait for a table.

Right outside JR Station, super convenient. We stayed here 9 years ago too. Breakfast was great, and we booked a Japanese-style room. The hotel has an onsen on the upper floors, which was lovely. It's an easy walk to Otaru's city center, and there's a bus stop right across the street for Mt. Tengu.

Considering it's right across from the station, the outdoor hot spring area is surprisingly well-designed to create a sense of tranquility amidst the bustling surroundings – it's a really nice touch. The breakfast, especially with its Hokkaido-style seafood, is exceptional. You can literally have as much salmon roe and salmon as you want! Plus, the nearby supermarket is very budget-friendly and offers incredible value for money. Highly recommend.

The location is super convenient, right opposite Otaru Station. It offers much better value for money than Sapporo. The room size is also larger than many Dormy Inn properties. Breakfast includes soup curry, and they even offer free ramen at night. The hot spring is also great. My only minor gripe is the limited selection of manga books, and there aren't many seats available for reading them.

The triple room was spacious enough; we could just about open one suitcase. It was clean and the hotel's location directly opposite Otaru Station is super convenient. You can even see Tenguyama peak and the ski resort from here.

This isn't my first time staying at a Dormy Inn; I stayed at one in Kumamoto previously and absolutely loved it. The Otaru location is right in front of the station, which is super convenient. So, I didn't hesitate to choose Dormy Inn again. They offer complimentary Yakult and ice cream, which my child adored. The free ramen served as a late-night snack was a light soy sauce broth, easy on the stomach. Breakfast quality is outstanding, featuring seafood donburi, soup curry, tempura, grilled seafood, Hokkaido milk, and local specialties. Many hotels serve frozen fruit, but Dormy Inn offers fresh fruit!

I only stayed one night in Otaru on a whim, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this hotel. It's very close to Otaru JR station, so getting around was super convenient. The room was small and had a Showa-era decor, but that's pretty normal for Japan. The staff were all very welcoming. The real highlights were the hotel's onsen (hot spring), the ice cream, and the complimentary late-night soba noodles. Overall, it was a great experience and definitely worth a stay.
