I give a high score because it is really a good place, but I do not recommend due to my bad experience. I have purchase for Manyo Japanese Style Room for one night including dinner and breakfast and expect a perfect experience on a Onsen Hotel. It is perfectly match with my expectation before midnight, perfect customer services, great hot spring in terms of in-house or public onsen. Great drinks and snack provided on the public area. Although the dinner is not match with my taste, I do believe it is just the issue of my personal taste. The nightmare comes when it is at 12:00 There should be auto adjustment on the temperature of private onsen in house. It turns from got to warm at midnight, so I call the hotline and seek for support on turning it hot again. However, the staff work at night can not speak English and told me my onsen is broken. The onsen turn into cold immediately. They have offer me a choice of change to another room but I do not want to bother them at night so refuse to do so. As a result, the onsen was not fixed afterward even at the morning tomorrow. And they only return less than 10% refund as the compensation to me. So here I will have 2 suggestions for you if you really want to try this hotel: 1. try not to purchase the premium room. You can enjoy the food, the public onsen and the kindness customer service even if you just purchase the cheapest one. 2. If you do purchase the premium room, and unlikely your onsen was broken, do not hesitate to change to another room. You will find no reason to pay so high for a room without private hot spring.

Staffs are so friendly and helpful. Room is clean and comfortable. I will definitely come back and stay at this hotel again in the future. Highly recommended.

Staying here was the best decision of my whole trip! Our room with the open air onsen during winter, godsend! The included breakfast was splendid! All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Manager Kazuyoshi Watanabe SAVED our lives! May god bless him! Do look out for him when you're there. I would recommend anyone a stay here if they're looking to whine down and relax in a Japanese style stay with all the western comforts.

It's lately new renovated, the room and the view is nice. Staff are friendly and helpful. If there's Japanese breakfast (non buffet) that could be provided it will be awesome.

They were so sweet, going above and beyond to help us and arrange the transport for us to get to the train station.

Location is quite far away from JR station. But the shuttle bus service is excellent.

Good onsen experience. Generous spread for breakfast.. delicious dinner. Overall, a pleasant experience. Free shuttle bus from train station. Remember to call them upon your arrival, public phone available at train station. There is also a footbath station next to train station.

Clean hotel, big room with onsen tub with free transportation to and from station.

Good experience and relaxing private onsen. Staffs are helpful and polite. Dining experience for both dinner and breakfast are amazing and delicious!

This is the first time I travel to Kyoto so I particularly choose a Japanese style hotel. Really happy to stay at Biwako for 2 nights. Staff are polite and friendly. The room was beyond our expectations. The open-air bath is outside of the balcony which we can pull down the privacy shades but it was lovely to be outdoors. The quality of the meals are very high, especially the dinner which I give 5-star! Every dish was presented very nice with the waitress explained to us before we started. I also like the facilities in the public bath. I will book again if I travel again Kyoto!

Bed and Osen is good. For food, this is decent but I prefer more cooked food than sashimi. This is just my preference.

Love the place, so relax , love the onsan, Really is relaxing after a long day of snowboarding ,I’ll come back and visit Japan again 🫶🏻

Good Experience with excellence service; highly recommended

Located conveniently a 15 minute train ride from Kyoto station. Shuttle bus is provided from ogotoonsen station, though you might need to call the staff using the public phone located at the bus/taxi stand. Service was great. Staff were fluent in English and were always helpful. Dinner was a traditional Japanese course meal. The seafood might prove challenging to those not accustomed, but the omi beef sukiyaki at the end is well worth it. Overall a great experience, highly recommended for those looking for a traditional yet luxurious onsen ryokan experience.
