Hotel Koo Otsuhyakucho

Otsu|0.65km from Nagara Park
Style. Converted traditional machiyas scattered throughout town, Japanese Nordic fusion Setting. Otsu, Southern end of Lake Biwa, only 20 minutes from Kyoto by car or two stations away Explore. Otsu is a quiet languid town with lots of interesting historical buildings. I was here a week before the ”Otsu Festival”, 1 of the three major festivals in the lake country and an important intangible folk cultural property designated by the country. 2 of the 13 Hikiyamas floats were being assembled near the Hotel’s reception (Ohmiya) & it was fun to listen to the kids practice their music for the festival. Hotel Koo also offers local tours for free and really encourages guests to eat out, shop etc. to revitalize Otsu. I quite enjoyed the walk and visit to the Mitsuhashi Setsuko Museum of Art, and just strolling Otsu. Rooms. I booked the entry level room which was 32 sq meter only. They have rooms/villas that are up to 100 square meter. My small but immaculate room had no closet but a clothing rack. No slippers either and only two tea bags were provided. I was happy with the bathtub but next time I’ll book a bigger room/villa @ the hotel. The day checking in I had trouble reaching the hotel by phone. Once there, staff were nice and helpful. Refreshing chestnut parfait at checkin and free sake provided in the evening. Food & drinks. Hotel booked Kasen for me, where I had a very satisfying hyperlocal meal. Prices. Value for money @ $174 Rating. 4/5

Biwako Hotel

The room faces Lake Biwa and is quite beautiful. The area is quite large for Japan. The bed is comfortable. I slept on the tatami for many days. It feels great to lie on the big bed. The hot spring is also very good. My skin will be smooth after soaking. It would be better if they can provide ice milk. The pick-up bus is very convenient I booked a hotel with dinner included. The buffet provided for dinner did not have many varieties. There was not even a seafood sashimi. The beef place provided mediocre food and the Western pastry was pretty good.

The front desk is very kind and makes me feel very relaxed. Restaurants are clustered around the station, but is the walking distance appropriate? The fork of the tram that you can see from under the window stimulates your trip.
Lake Biwa Otsu Prince Hotel
4.5/5178 Reviews
The Prince Hotel was the most satisfying hotel in our trip to Kyoto. The hotel is located beside Lake Bipa with first-class scenery and comfortable environment. In particular, the hotel's dedicated bus pick-up service and the luggage delivery service at the Kyoto Station counter bring great convenience to guests, allowing us to arrange our itinerary as we wish. The hotel's breakfast is also very good. When you enjoy breakfast in the restaurant on the 37th and 38th floors, you can enjoy the beautiful view of Lake Biwa through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows! The only dissatisfaction is that check-in is required at 5 pm. If we arrive after 3 o'clock, if we want to check in in time, we will have to pay an additional 2,000 yen; it seems too inhumane.
Enryakuji Kaikan

Stayed the night before to participate in the morning service at Konponchudo. Although it is a temple lodging, it is comfortable with a large communal bath in a hotel-like facility. From the restaurant, you can overlook Lake Biwa and the view is outstanding. The food is vegetarian cuisine, which is good for the body and tastes good, so it is recommended. The rooms are on the Lake Biwa side and the mountain side, and the mountain side is a highlight with dense old trees and autumn leaves. It takes about 5 minutes to Konponchudo. A free shuttle bus is available from Otsukyo Station on the JR Kosei Line. Reservations are required in advance.

Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast
4.7/530 Reviews
The room was clean and the staff was very welcoming! I feel that the problem with all this kind of house is that the sound insulation is not very good, you can hear the conversation of the people next door and face the street. The faucet in the shower room has not had hot water for a long time. But it is still recommended here, very comfortable feeling, breakfast is also delicious! ! If you live for two days or longer, you can visit here! I hope to stay again next time ~
