Hotel Review: Best Western Plus Ottawa Kanata Stay Dates: April 23–26 I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my recent experience at the Best Western Plus Ottawa Kanata, which was deeply disappointing and concerning for health and safety reasons. Upon checking in on April 23rd, I discovered bed bugs in the room that same evening. I immediately reported this to the front desk, but to my surprise and dismay, the hotel refused to take any action that day. There was no offer to switch rooms, assistance with belongings, or even an apology. On April 24th, pest control was finally brought in, and the room was fumigated, rendering it unusable for several hours. This disrupted my day significantly and still provided no real sense of resolution or accountability. Unfortunately, the situation worsened. On April 25th, more bed bugs were found in the room. I killed several and physically brought them to the front desk as evidence. Despite this, the hotel again took no action whatsoever — no offer of compensation, no room change, no concern shown. After repeated attempts to resolve the issue directly with the hotel, I contacted Best Western’s corporate office. Their final response was that since pest control allegedly found "no signs of bed bugs," no compensation would be provided — despite photographic evidence and physical specimens being shown. This experience has been both stressful and unacceptable. A hotel should prioritize the health, safety, and comfort of its guests — not only was this standard not met, but the lack of accountability and customer care was astounding. I would strongly caution anyone considering staying here. Bed bugs are a serious issue, and so is how a business responds to them. In this case, both were handled poorly.
