Let's cover the (many) negatives rather than the amazing location... Some reviews are too forgiving because of the stunning setting; this was insufficient for us to overlook the substantial issues. 1. The food is terrible. ONE menu. Most dishes are cheap, fried, oily, sugary junk. Some dishes are shocking, e.g. the tuna tataki which is clearly pre-seared and then chilled/frozen rather than being freshly prepared on site. Limited fresh seafood is baffling on an island. Fries (served with many dishes) so saturated in oil they were nauseating and inedible. 2. Mediocre breakfast: limited options, no decent bread, just 2 cereals, few healthy foods. Good egg station and nice mango. 3. Scripted, inflexible service. The staff are nice but you sense they are operating within strict limits. Service is totally scripted: special requests are either refused or require lots of checking with managers to 'endorse'. We're talking small things: a bit of fruit for lunch on a day-long dive trip (with the resort's own dive service!), a grilled chicken sandwich for the same dive trip (rather than bacon), an extra sunbed on the beach... it's all too much trouble. Guests are made to feel awkward. 4. Beach/pool service: hardly see the pool bar staff. They don't circulate offering drinks, despite the fact they would make more money if they did. You have to hunt for assistance. Rarely somebody offers to bring towels for you. The terrace and pool have seating without a single sunshade so completely unusable when sunny. Food and empty drinks take ages to be cleared away. Vacated loungers not *****ped of towels and tidied so they are ready for next users. 5. Dated, tired facilities in general. The furniture is quite worn and neglected. It gives an air of cutting corners and simply not caring. This is prevalent in the rooms, common areas, by the beach. No relaxing vibe in the resort. 6. Organised dives have very high boat fees. Lunch and snacks are not included in rates. Again the scripted, inflexible service taints the overall experience. It was a real effort just to get a small box of fruit for our dive trip. 7. WiFi requires a username and password in some areas. Who else is accessing WiFi apart from guests?! Another example of being unnecessarily awkward. 8. Our first room (604) was on the water in the mangroves. Peaceful location although the mangroves should be trimmed in a small section to create a view from the terrace. This was a prime location that was spoiled by not attending to this detail. 9. Dubious eco credentials. Plates/silverware brought to lunch wrapped in plastic cling film. Single use, plastic packaged grooming accessories in bathrooms. Pointless cocktail umbrellas in drinks. We moved rooms twice. First to a mountain view villa after we found a rat in our room. In fairness, the staff tried hard to catch it and the following day we were upgraded to an island tip bungalow for the remainder of our stay. These are easily the best rooms and we d
