Mount Lavinia Hotel

Lavinia Hotel is a very nice place, it is a complete package of friendly people (all the staff/workers), sumptuous food cooked by the best Chef Prasanna, conducive meeting/conference area, and a relaxing place to stay! This hotel is also accessible to all the things you want to enjoy, they have a private beach, a very close to the train station and nearby stores and shops!

We checked into the hotel on 31st noon, while we were having a beer at the pool bar we saw staff work so hard to arrange the setup for the night then in the early evening rain started so they have to rearrange their entire event inside the hotel huge challenge but they manage this well, 31st event very well organized.

Our wedding at Mount Lavinia Hotel in March 2024 was nothing short of spectacular. The location, service, and overall experience made our special day truly unforgettable. The food was delicious, with a great variety catering to all tastes. From appetizers to desserts, every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the delectable flavors and the impeccable quality of the food. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmth and professionalism. The service was impeccable, with staff ensuring everything ran smoothly and attending to every detail. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence truly stood out, making us feel welcome and cared for throughout the event. Mount Lavinia Hotel was perfect for the vibe we wanted. Its historical charm and breathtaking beach views provided a stunning backdrop for our wedding photos. The elegant atmosphere added to the magic of our celebration, creating an enchanting setting that we and our guests will always remember. A special mention goes to our banquet manager, Mr. Oshadha Vishwanath. His support and dedication made our day perfect. He helped us customize everything from decorations to food menus, making the planning process smooth and stress-free. His expertise and calm demeanor were invaluable. Overall, our wedding day at Mount Lavinia Hotel was more elegant and memorable than we could have ever imagined. We are incredibly thankful to the entire team for their exceptional service and support. We enjoyed our 1 night stay at this hotel towards the end of our Jewels of Sri Lanka Mercury Holidays tour. I loved the dinner and breakfast at this hotel. On Thursdays evenings, they have indian cuisine which was excellent and the best food we had on the tour. Loved the Indian entertainment as well. Breakfast on the following morning was very good too and loved all the Indian selection they had. Found out later that the chef is originally from India. The issue we had was that when we checked in, the room we were given had a flooded bathroom due to water leakage from the ceiling. Also there was a leak in the main room. We were then given another room which was fine with lovely beach view. However next morning when we had a walk around the building, we saw that the hotel was in desperate need of maintenance in various areas. The hotel has a private beach accessible from a different part of the hotel. The pool looked nice but didn't get a chance to swim. On the whole, we enjoyed our 1 night stay though.

200+ years old heritage hotel about an hour from Bandaranaike International Airport. Absolutely stunning location, excellent friendly service, huge breakfast spread and otherwise very tasty food. Slightly dated with small issues related to heritage properties, but things I would gladly ignore. The high-tea is a must try. Thank you Mr. Bandara for the amazing experience.

After 35 years of travelling to Sri Lanka and visiting this wonderful property for sometimes a month at time, we have seen many versions of the hotel, we have met staff we will remember forever and cherish memories that are unforgettable. This trip in particular has stood out to us which is why we feel the need to write a review. Upon arrival you are greeted by the friendliest doormen, who couldn't make you feel any more special, from the moment we see them we know we are at home number 2! The 5 star treatment starts... a cooling juice is served and towel, which is so welcomed after many hours of travelling from London. Our room was clean with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a selection of exotic fruit, the views from this hotel are second to none the views of the shoreline you can see from the terrace and your bedroom, we highly recommend a garden sea view room. The food was excellent from breakfast to supper, we understand that all businesses in particular hospitality businesses were effected greatly by the pandemic but we can honestly say Mount is back on track. We wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you to the wonderful team that Mount Lavinia has a special thanks to Mr Lal the front office manager and his team (Kuven) you are spectacular nothing is ever too much trouble. Over and out for now Hotel Mount Lavinia, we will be back in no time ;)

Mount Lavinia is where my parents honreymooned ,71 years ago. It was such a pleasure to stay there. Everything was done so well.Our room was very comfortable,plenty of storage.Perfect! The terrace was gorgeous ,overlooking the sea and one could see Colombo in the distance. The food was very good indeed and we commend the head chef who had to organise superb buffets everyday.I ove Sri Lankan food but the Italian buffet on one of the nights was lovely,too. I cannot praise the staff more highly.They have such pride in their work.I hope we can return again.A delightful hotel with character and a special ambiance at: not a big characterless edifice with no atmosphere.We experienced one of those in Colombo but much prefered the historical and beautiful Mount Lavinia.Thankyou for a very pleasant stay.
