A month ago, I booked four rooms, two family rooms and two large bed rooms on Ctrip. We paid in full. Ctrip issued the hotel room confirmation form, and I sent an email to the hotel to confirm the room, but did not get a reply from the hotel. Asked Ctrip again and replied that the room had confirmed that there were no problems. As a result, the old nine arrived at 3 pm and said the hotel had no room. In the middle of repeated consultations, there was no time for dinner and no time to book a boat and go to sea, which led to watching dolphin soup the next day. It was not until seven o'clock in the evening that two double rooms and one family room were given. Two families are squeezed into a family room (two bedrooms, one with air-conditioning and one without air-conditioning). During the whole negotiation process, the hotel customer service did not have a smiley face, and held a stern face, saying that if you do not accept it, go out and find another hotel by yourself. I stayed here 5 nights over Christmas as a solo traveller. The room was bigger and better than I expected with a partial sea view. The room was right above the restaurant/bar where they play live music so if you go to sleep before midnight, this isn’t a great spot for you - for me, was no problem. Plus....the band “Sacrafice” are amazing!!!! There was a communal balcony outside my door for smoking, the room was large with the basics you need, and staff were great for the most part. Just one night i got upset when i sat at the restaurant bar and the waitress told me i couldn’t sit there as i wasn’t having food...even though i was a guest at the hotel and had room service just before. When you travel solo, sometimes you prefer to eat in your room than sit alone at a restaurant. When she found out i was a guest she was very sorry but she should ask first before what she did. I sat at this bar every night and met people - it was very social for me. It has great live music, a chilled vibe (there’s no hardcore partying on the beach) and enjoyed the ambience. Check in and check out was quick and easy. The location is the best on the beach and it’s the best night spot on the beach. I would recommend and stay again. Thank you :)

These cottages are for budget travellers who can tolerate accommodation that is inferior to most backpacker hostels. The good things first. The cottages are a few minutes walk from Alona Beach where there are many eateries that open for breakfast. The hosts are friendly and relaxed. The room had a fan and airconditioner as well as good wifi. The grounds are well maintained and are attractive. It is also very quiet and a peaceful place. The room was clean but ants inhabited most places. The bath towels were ok. Now for the not so good things. The toilet was the smallest I've ever come across. It was near impossible to sit on and get up from. I resorted to squatting -very dangerous at the best of times. Everything was makeshift and barely maintained. The plumbing was largely plastic pipes drilled through walls. The double bed was ok but the sheets were threadbare. There was a bunk bed in the room but I would never recommend it. The room was not cleaned during my stay but I'm not an untidy or wasteful traveller so it didn't really bother me. Mosquitos are rife but the host did provide a spray. Luckily my time in the room was to sleep only. Most of my time was spent at the beach or sightseeing. To get from Taglibaran airport to cottages costs 300php for a tricycle and takes about 30 minutes. There are no shops or supermarkets near to the cottages. The grounds did have tables and chairs and outdoor cooking facilities. It seems that the cottages are popular with the young ones who visit Alona to learn to dive. I tolerated this place but I wouldn't stay there again. It sure lacked creature comforts but it was for 2 days only and the pleasantness of Bohol and Alona beach compensated for the stay in the cottage. If you want cheap, basic and no frills accommdation at all then this is for you.
