Hôtel Aubépine

This is a wonderful hotel in a fantastic area. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable! I would love to go back and stay here.

We stayed at Hôtel Aubépine based on its central location, its reasonable price point, and its affiliation with the well-reviewed Hôtel Fougère. Hôtel Aubépine was exceptionally welcoming, from the greenery on the exterior and the warm sitting area at the entrance to the breakfast area to the chocolates and fresh bouquets of flowers waiting in our family's two rooms. The rooms were quiet, warm, and comfortable, the in-room safes were large enough for a 16” laptop, the in-room electric kettles heated water blazingly fast to the selected temperature, the bathrooms were well stocked each and every day, and the staff were always looking for ways to be helpful. One very minor nitpick: Since the rooms are so spacious, the hotel should have more suitcase stands available. The hotel currently has only one suitcase stand per room, so guests can’t get extras while the hotel is fully booked.

I spent an exquisite overnight at the newly opened Hotel Aubépine, rue de Seine in Paris. From the warm and friendly welcome by Valentin the minute I stepped in the door to the beautiful suite on the top floor, the service and decor was flawless. Hotel Aubépine instantly feels like your exquisite home in Paris, quietly elegant with beautiful fresh flower bouquets, five-star in every way without a trace of ostentatious. Aubépine is the quintessential Parisian boutique hotel, so French, so authentic in every detail. With only six rooms - 2 per floor - and 3 gorgeous suites on the top floors, you will not feel like one of many tourists, but rather like you are treated like family in Paris.

We booked ten nights at a rate of 536.90 EUR per night (including city tax); $625.49 USD per night. Certainly not inexpensive. It is the sister property of Hotel Fougére in Paris, which did not have availability for our travel dates. The hotel’s advertising portrays it as a peaceful retreat with upscale amenities. That is not a completely accurate description. It is small and quaint, with nice décor, and the staff was very pleasant. The location is good for accessing many major attractions but it is not peaceful. In addition, the amenities did not meet my definition of what I consider upscale. Upon arrival at the hotel we were offered coffee, a nice gesture we appreciated after a long overnight trip. I was shocked to find, when checking out, that the coffee had actually been added to our bill! An upscale hotel would not charge for a welcome coffee. This incident reflected a broader pattern of any request outside of the norm being a big deal: pillows, hangers, luggage rack, even Canderel (sugar substitute) for coffee. There was also a lack of basic in-room information. There were no instructions for the air conditioning/heat, no guidance on how to operate the phone to reach the front desk or make outside calls, and no general overview of available services. The bathroom door had a window that allowed visibility into the bathroom, offering virtually no privacy. It appeared to have been installed backwards. Storage was another issue. For a 10-night stay, there was very little space for toiletries, clothing or personal items. There were no bureaus or drawers, only a closet. We had to request more hangers and an extra luggage rack, which they could not provide as there was only one luggage rack per room. We were forced to keep much of our clothing in suitcases on the floor. Attention to detail appeared to be absent as the TV and mirror were both noticeably crooked on the wall. We were given only one large physical key for the room. The lock was extremely difficult to operate, to the point that it felt like a safety concern because unlocking the door from the inside was a struggle. Additionally, guests are required to leave the key at the desk every time they go out and retrieve it upon return. While some might find this quaint, it’s inconvenient and very outdated in today’s world. We could not leave the window open due to heavy street noise and cigarette smoke drifting in. Inside the building, we could hear other guests in the hallway and music from nearby rooms. The toilet paper holder was installed so close to the toilet that it constantly bumped against our leg, and on multiple occasions, toilet paper wasn’t replenished. One night we returned at 1:00 a.m. to find so little that we had to go downstairs to request it. Housekeeping practices were also frustrating. After a late night, we placed the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door so we could sleep in, but the front desk called the room to ask when housekeeping could enter. On another day, d

What a wonderful stay! This boutique property is located in easy walking distance to the best shops and restaurants in the 6th as well as easy access to the Louvre and Notre Dame. From the gorgeous guest rooms, to the attentive staff, we couldn’t recommend it more.
