Worst Hotel Experience of My Life - Avoid at All Costs
If I could give this place negative stars, I would. The Grand Hotel du Calvados - Opera is not just bad, it’s a waking nightmare disguised as accommodation. We walked out after 5 minutes and im surprised it took that long.
From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by creepy staff who seemed more like lurking shadows than employees. Their unsettling stares and bizarre behavior made me feel unsafe, as if I had wandered into a horror movie instead of a hotel lobby.
The rooms? Filthy beyond belief. The carpets reeked of stale rot, the walls were stained with mould, and the air carried a suffocating stench that clung to my clothes long after I left. The bedding looked like it hadn’t been washed in years, and I wouldn’t be surprised if something was crawling in it.
Bathrooms were a disgrace: cracked tiles, foul odors, and grime so thick you could scrape it off with a knife. Even the so‑called “common areas” were depressing, with broken furniture and a smell that made me gag.
Every single detail screamed neglect and decay. The atmosphere was so unbearable that I couldn’t sleep, constantly worried about what might be lurking in the shadows or crawling under the bed.
This hotel doesn’t just ruin your trip it ruins your mood, your clothes, and possibly your health. Staying here felt like punishment.
Verdict: The Grand Hotel du Calvados – Opera is a disgrace to hospitality. Dirty, smelly, mouldy, creepy, and utterly revolting. Do yourself a favor: stay literally anywhere else. Sleeping on a park bench would be cleaner, safer, and more comfortable.
