Grand Hotel de La Ville

Stayed for two nights on a business trip with six colleagues. Hotel was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, great breakfast and friendly staff, especially the fantastic barman who looked after us and made us any cocktail we required! Hotel was an easy walk ito the centre of parma. Around 15/20min walk with shops and retaurants on the way. Would definitely stay again.

In Parma, we have also stayed at Parizzi Suites. My review, to compare, can be found on TripAdvisor. Pros: - Location: (Walking) San Giovanni Evangelista (14mins), Piazza Garibaldi (15mins), Battistero (16mins), Cattedrale (16mins), Teatro Regio (19mins). - Bathroom amenities: Soap bar, shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, vanity kit, shower cap, shoe sponge, tissues, slippers, hairdryer (1600w). - Free in-room WiFi (good speeds, approx. 91Mbps). - In-room safe large enough for a laptop. - Excellent sound-proofing. - Friendly and helpful staff. Cons: - The hotel provides a comfortable stay, but the overall experience aligns more with a 4-star standard rather than a true 5-star in terms of amenities and service. - Breakfast was quite limited. The only hot options were scrambled eggs and bacon. - In-room amenities were sparse—no kettle, tea, or coffee, and only paper cups instead of glass or ceramic. Bathrobes were also absent. - Laundry service is restricted to basic items and is only available on weekdays, with no dry cleaning option (i.e. no suits/dresses). - The room’s lighting controls were unnecessarily complex and difficult to navigate. - The shower temperature fluctuated unpredictably, alternating between hot and cold randomly.

Modern elegance. Very comfortable quiet and large rooms with quality bedding. Excellent service. Underground on site parking. Wi-Fi works well. Breakfast buffet is ample with outdoor seating. About 15 minute walk to the historic centre. Not a problem.

As someone who has frequented luxury accommodations like Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, I expected a certain level of service and quality when booking a stay at the Grand Hotel De la Ville Parma. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but satisfactory. From the moment my family and I arrived, we were met with rudeness and indifference from the front desk staff. Their dismissive attitude made us feel unwelcome, a stark contrast to the warm hospitality we're accustomed to, even in smaller establishments. The issues didn't end there. The rooms were not only cramped but also poorly maintained. Despite our repeated attempts to adjust the temperature, we were met with frustration and false promises from the staff. It was clear that the hotel's amenities and infrastructure were severely outdated. Adding insult to injury, the lack of basic amenities further exacerbated our disappointment. A simple request for a wine opener turned into a baffling ordeal, with the staff displaying a complete lack of professionalism and hospitality. The exorbitant charge quoted for such a basic service was nothing short of insulting. In contrast to my extensive travels and stays at various hotels, including reputable chains in small towns across the US, the Grand Hotel De la Ville Parma fell far short of even the most basic standards. The absence of glassware, a functional mini-fridge, or a coffee machine in the room only compounded our frustration. To sum up, my experience at the Grand Hotel De la Ville Parma was nothing short of a nightmare. From the indifferent staff to the lackluster amenities, it's evident that this establishment falls far below the standards of a purported 5-star hotel. I regret ever stepping foot in this establishment and would caution anyone seeking luxury accommodations to look elsewhere.

This quite a modern hotel described as five star but which in my opinion does not reach that standard. Front of house staff were great, happy to help with any thing we asked about. Bedrooms were a reasonable size and the bed was comfortable. However, there was no drinking glass in the room and cardboard cups were provided instead. Our biggest concern was the step into the bath shower (no non slip mat provided) which we felt was somewhat dangerous for older folk as witnessed by the bruise on my wife's thigh. Breakfast was adequate and we did not use the restaurant for any other meals. The hotel is about a kilometre from the main historic sights along the main street.

The hotel is fabulous, the staff attentive and friendly, the food impressive and the facilities fab. The air conditioning is only on during the summer months, but as the windows open, that was fine for a perimenopausal woman! Their non alcoholic drinks were delightful and Andre the bar man even created his first Espresso Martini for me. The transfer driver we booked to the airport (Christine) was a joy too. The hotel is on the edge of a Galleria, but out of site, so handy for the supermarket or if you want to eat offsite. As a vegetarian who doesn't drink milk I found the breakfast to be fine, in fact I ate something different on the 3 mornings.
