Stunning room, thoughtful touches… but nature and location have other plans
Review:
The room is genuinely beautiful — elegant design, spotless, comfortable bed, and such a charming little detail: every evening they quietly leave a few delicious chocolates on the pillow. It’s the kind of small gesture that makes you smile.
Unfortunately, that’s where the fairy tale ends for most travellers.
After around 6 p.m. the hotel feels like it gently falls asleep. The restaurant either closes or offers a very limited menu, the lobby empties out, and the whole property turns surprisingly quiet. Outside the gates there is virtually no infrastructure — no shops, cafés, bars or evening promenades within reasonable walking distance. And to make matters even more complicated, very few (if any) places here accept card payments — cash is practically the only currency that works.
Then there’s the sea.
In January, this stretch of coastline is ruled by strong, restless winds and powerful, towering waves that crash dramatically against the shore. Swimming is simply not an option — the water is too rough and unpredictable. Even experienced swimmers would think twice. And while the big swells might look tempting to surfers, this particular part of the coast doesn’t offer rideable surf during this season either — the conditions are more wild and chaotic than surf-friendly.
In short: if you dream of a romantic, ultra-peaceful escape where the highlight is staying inside a gorgeous room, reading, watching the stormy ocean from the window, and you always carry plenty of cash — this place might actually be perfect.
But if you’re hoping for beach days, evening strolls, easy dinners out, or any kind of lively atmosphere after sunset… choose very carefully. This hotel delivers beauty indoors, but everything else — the sea, the evenings, the surroundings — has a very different character in January.
