Phi Phi Islands Hotel Guide

The Phi Phi Islands are located about 20 km southeast of Phuket, Thailand. While the Phi Phi Islands are composed of two main islands (Ko Phi Phi Don in the north and Ko Phi Phi Le in the south), a total of six islands make up the group which was designated as a national park in Thailand in 1983. The white sandy beaches, tranquil blue water, natural caves, and the unspoiled natural landscape make the Phi Phi Islands stand out from the 30+ islands around Phuket. It’s no surprise that the islands have been called one of the hottest vacation destinations in recent years.

Pull a sun lounge by the beach to enjoy the sunshine, leisurely flip through a book, sip some freshly squeezed fruit juice, or even take a nap. When you’ve had enough relaxing, you can go swimming, diving, water-skiing, canoeing, windsurfing, or even boating. The aquatic and underwater activities are endless. If you get tired out, you can grab a fishing pole and catch some fish or even crabs.

Movie lovers may still remember the popular movie The Beach starring Leonardo DiCaprio from 2000. Interestingly, many of the scenes from the movie were filmed on Ko Phi Phi Le. More and more tourists are becoming uninterested in day trips and choose to stay a few nights to fully enjoy this island of paradise. Phi Phi Island is divided into Ko Phi Phi Don and Ko Phi Phi Le. There are no hotels on Ko Phi Phi Le and the prices of hotels in Ko Phi Phi Don is slightly more expensive than those located in Phuket. Around Tongsai Bay, there are budget hotels that are close to the pier. The transportation is very convenient and there are many restaurants, bars, and facilities. At Laem Tong Beach and in other northern regions there are a number of high-end luxury hotels and resorts which usually offer longtail boat service to and from the pier.
