Mala Hotel Reviews

A nice hotel located in a good position to shops and restaurants. All within 5 to 10 mins walk. A good cheap Thai cafe/ restaurant right behind the hotel. 1 min walk for cheap eats. The beach is about 15 mins walk away through many shops and restaurants and food markets. Although it’s always nice to stay right on the beach we didn’t find the distance too much of a bother for the price we paid. Beach front hotels are much much more expensive. The staff are very friendly and sweet but we did have to go and stay in another hotel upon arrival for two nights down the road due to over booking. However the staff had organised everything including a taxi and we didn’t mind it as we saw another beach area in that hotel. AC in our rooms worked well. Only thing I would say is that only one member of staff spoke average English and before leaving we emailed the hotel and never got an answer. All in all a nice friendly hotel and we would stay there again. One thing you should know about Kata beach. There is a wall built all along the beach with two entrances at either end. So, even though the beach is right behind the hotel , one has to walk to either beach entrances to access the beach. Hence the 15 min walk. Unless you are staying right at the beach in more expensive hotels you cannot escape the walk.
