Henrys House is a small Thai style guesthouse/hotel just a short five-minute cab ride from Old Phuket Town. It is set in a Thai neighbourhood with little or none in the way of western restaurants or bars in the immediate vicinity. However, it is just a five-minute walk to the sprawling Central Festival Phuket shopping complex, has a shopping centre with Big C just across the road and has a 711 right next door. There are several options in the street in regards Thai food. In particular there is a very good Thai restaurant (left as you exit the building ร้านครัวบางใหญ่ is one minutes’ walk away) that is very popular with locals that we visited several times. Check in to Henrys went smoothly, via the tour agent shop on the ground floor. The building is set over three floors with the guest rooms on the second and third floors, no elevator. On making your way to your room you are expected to take off your shoes and leave them in the designated area. In this same area are a number of washing machines, 30 baht per wash to use. Our room was very spacious, clean and bright with typical Thai polished tiles throughout. There is a typical Thai wet bathroom. We found the water temperature in the evenings only lukewarm, so if you enjoy a hot shower then take it early. The shower pressure was good. There is a decent sized fridge in the room, a wall mounted smart TV, good sized cupboard, small table and chair set, side cabinet and small vanity desk with mirror. There is a clothes horse in the room if you decide to wash your own clothes. The double bed was a cheap type, with the springs prominent, and not terribly comfortable. There are no charging points at either side of the bed and generally a shortage of them in the room. This may be an issue for people who have multiple devices requiring charging. WIFI was not brilliant but acceptable. There is no room safe, there is no kettle provided and no complimentary tea or coffee. Two bottles of water are provided daily. However, on the third floor there is a communal area where you can access a kettle and microwave oven. There is a latch on the outside of the room so you are able to attach a padlock for added security. The AC worked well and was quiet. There is a decent sized balcony with views to the Big C carpark. Overall, we feel Henrys House is satisfactory budget accommodation for short term stay and we would be happy to stay again in the future should the need arise.
