The inn is nice and cost-effective. The main service is very good. They reply to WeChat messages very late at night and help with taking photos. The breakfast is nutritious and healthy. The room is clean and sanitary, very characteristic of the ancient city. The infrastructure is very complete. There is a water dispenser to drink hot water directly, which is really a blessing in winter! When checking in, the proprietress took a map to give us a guide, told us which restaurant to go to for a discount, and asked the boss to buy tickets for Pingyao again, which can be 20 yuan cheaper per person! The packed lunch at noon can be heated up by the owner when you return to the B&B at night. There are three kittens and a rabbit in the B&B, and you can pet the cats for free. Can you bear it! The boss has a lot of small pets, including golden toads, hexagonal dragons, salamanders, and many kinds of small fish! When I left, the boss gave me aged vinegar as a souvenir. I will come again next time! ! ! ! !

I came here with my partner. The living environment here is very good, quaint and beautiful. It is located near the north gate and close to the center of the ancient city. The boss is very enthusiastic and the service is thoughtful. When we checked in, he introduced the attractions and food of the ancient city to us. The price-performance ratio here is very high and it is suitable for taking pictures. I highly recommend everyone to come and stay and check in!

I have never written a long review, so I will write the first long review for Jinzhai. First of all, I want to express my opinion: I am very satisfied.
It is hard to imagine that such a hotel has been open for more than ten years. Because both the maintenance and decoration are very exquisite. The work designed by a foreign designer more than ten years ago has not been outdated until today, and it will not be outdated in the future. The application of light at night is a genuine Chinese aesthetic. It is not bright or dark, just right. The hygiene of Jinzhai can accept the scrutiny of detail control. The breakfast tastes very good. If it is not enough, you can add some, and the taste is not bad. The black tea and Pu'er tea also use very good tea leaves (not tea bags). The seasonal fruits are washed and placed in the restaurant area for you to take. (I eat 2 peaches almost every day 🍑) The waiters inside can do it, one-to-one service. Kind, considerate and meticulous. Many hotels are decorated very luxuriously, but they give people a sense of distance. Jinzhai gives people a sense of security. There is a feeling of going home. If you want to experience northern folk houses, if you want to come to Pingyao, you must not miss Jinzhai. For Jinzhai, I am willing to come to Pingyao for the second time.

It is the place where I could dive myself into the historical atmosphere, peaceful and gorgeous. They decorate the room with classic furniture which can bring people back to the the past dynasty. I stayed here only one days but I'm sure I will be back. I'm really impressed by their hospitality and service. It's like I'm in my own home. Highly recommended!

Yunzeju Inn is very centrally located in the heart of ancient Pingyao. The staff was very helpful and always available. The Hanfu experience was fun and included in our stay. The room was spacious and could fit our two backpacks easily. The architecture of the builging was also a plus.

I took my kids out to play and stayed at Yunjincheng Mansion. It is a very good hotel. Before I came, the housekeeper Juaner contacted me and sent me some travel information. She was very considerate. She indicated the route on the day of check-in. In order to consider the traffic jam problem for the guests, she arranged staff to pick them up in advance. The hotel is beautiful, specially the patios. The location is just 10 minutas walking from the North Gate of the wall. In reception they do not speak English, but they were very helpful with the translator. However, if you really need to rest, this hotel is not made for you. At 7am there were already families and kids shouting and playing in the patio. Even with taps, it was too noisy to keep sleeping. The hotel is also offering folkloric dressing and photos shoots, so you might find people take pictures in front of your room anytime, also at night with flashes

His home is outside the north gate of the ancient city, about 1.5km from Pingyao Station. Just follow the navigation. The biggest advantage of the location is that it is convenient to take a bus to Shuanglin Temple and is very close to the bus stop. However, the road was being built at the time and there was no stop sign. The disadvantage is that you have to go around a long way back to see the light show (south gate). His house is a two-story building with a small courtyard. There are rooms upstairs and downstairs. There are also steps leading up to the second floor, which are sealed. The top is probably a rooftop. I arrived at 9 o'clock in the evening. The front door is unremarkable, but when I walked in, I was warmed by the red lanterns all over the courtyard. There is a pool, a rocking chair, and a drinking fountain in the yard, which can park two-wheelers. The corridor on the second floor can dry clothes. The area should be quite dry, and it will be dry in one night. There were not many guests at that time, so the boss directly upgraded my room type from a multi-person room to a large Kang room with bathroom. The roof is very high, the space is large, and it is not cramped at all. Although the facilities are simple, the beds, baths, and air conditioning are all very comfortable. It is recommended that the store post a few hooks in the room to make it more convenient. In addition, they provide breakfast and sell vinegar. I don’t like jealousy, so I didn’t try it. I was satisfied just by smelling the aroma of vinegar. Stayed for two nights and it was extremely comfortable. The environment, facilities and services were impeccable. Thank you to the boss!

The lights are bright at night, and it is very beautiful! The boss is a real Pingyao person. He will contact the guests as soon as possible, drive to the outside of the ancient city to pick up the guests in the store for free, and is the only boss who will introduce the knowledge of various attractions in Pingyao Ancient City in detail! Staying in his house will give you a detailed guide to visit the ancient city! From the five A-level attractions to the top three time-honored restaurants with the best price-performance ratio, they are introduced one by one, and the boss will remind you to take the exclusive meal discount card when you go out, which is very considerate! The proprietress is young, beautiful, meticulous and capable! Before leaving, I also gave a souvenir of Shanxi Laochen vinegar! His family's ground jar cellar 53 degrees must be tried, it is mellow and not heady! Laochen vinegar is even better! And his house is very, very close to the main street, South Street (city building), but it is not as noisy as the main street at night. It is a rare five-star inn! I will stay at his house next time I go to Pingyao👍👍

It is reasonably priced, a bit out of the very center (meaning also out of tourists crowds that can be quite noisy in the evenings and mornings), but still close, has same old-style design as the more popular and well-established places that cater to foreigners, but priced twice as much. Pick-up and drop off service is provided - just contact the hotel in advance via phone using the reception of tour previous hotel - no one speaks English - it will solve your communication issue if you do not speak Chinese. At the place itself everyone is very eager to help - use your phone app to translate. Onwer helped me to buy tickets to Pingyao attractions and Terracota Army as I was heading to Xian next (available only through WeChat Pay that is in turn is not availablefor foreign tourists as of April 2023). If you go to Shuanglin temple, be sure to ask to buy tickets through WeChat for you as well. I was able to buy physical one by pure compassion of local guard who asked the staff to open ticket office just for me (Probably was the only foreigner in Pingyao at a time). Please also note that as of April 2023, the reconstruction works in the historical city parts are continuing, so, large chunks of the city within the walls are not looking as great as it could have been. The very center of the city is mostly untouched though and you can still come and explore. If going in spring, be prepared for the temperature swings. I got a temperature drop from 28C to 3C within 2 days by the moment I got to Pingyao. It was even snowing at night.

RRinMMReally love the hotel’s a**osphere. It is cool both scenery and weather. There aren’t much noice and people around the hotel, a little walk and you will reach some of the tourist’s attraction. Some employees can speak english or if not, wechat is the best help. They also booked taxi and drop us off by the taxi, the service was wonderful. Will stay here again if there’s a chance of visiting.

It's 15mins away from the high speed railway. They pick up and drop out off outside the city.
With the covid regulations in place, the hotel supported me through the process and helped me gain entry into the city. I was then collected and driven to the hotel.
Check-in was smooth and the lady helped me to book tickets for the Pingyao theatre show at the same time.
I received a free upgrade from a double room to a suite.
All in all, a fantastic holiday, and a great experience.
