JI Hotel (Pingyao Gucheng Beimen Hotel)

The front desk staff were very warm and attentive. The room facilities were complete, clean, and tidy. The breakfast was decent. It's not too far from Pingyao Ancient City, making it one of the better hotels in Pingyao.

Such a cozy and comfortable style, it really made me feel at home and incredibly relaxed. The cleanliness was meticulously maintained, and the room was spacious, bright, and tidy. My request for a non-smoking room was perfectly honored. The service was thoughtful and attentive—definitely worth it! My favorite part was still the tea 🍵. When checking out, the front desk attendant even gave me a complimentary souvenir, Shanxi specialty vinegar 👍.

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel with my little one over the weekend. My child communicated very well with the front desk, and they tried their best to accommodate our requests. Overall, it's a very warm and welcoming hotel, and I really enjoyed it. If I come to Pingyao again, I'll definitely choose this place.

It's close to the ancient city, making it convenient to get around. The front desk service is good.

The hotel is located near the North Gate, about a 15-minute walk from the ancient city. The facilities are decent, but the rooms are rather small. I booked a photoshoot in the style of ancient Shanxi merchants, but the hotel didn't mention it at check-in; they seem indifferent to it. Breakfast was rather perfunctory and simple, mostly just steamed buns and pastries; nothing else. The hot water dispenser and teacups were poorly matched; I set the machine to 200ml, but the cup was overflowing with hot water—I couldn't even lift it. The hotel's laundry room was probably the busiest place: there were only two machines, and everyone followed the hotel's instructions, setting the dryer to 30 minutes, then letting it run for another 30 minutes to adjust. On average, it took an hour to complete one dryer cycle, meaning only 2-3 guests actually used it that night!

The lobby had a subtle tea aroma, which was satisfactory. However, I must complain: there was no consistent hot water for showering; the hot water was incredibly slow, dripping almost constantly, forcing me to endure the cold showers. The beds were covered in dust; even the slightest movement of the blankets sent a cloud of dust flying, making it very uncomfortable for someone with rhinitis. The air conditioning, set to 20 degrees Celsius, took a very long time to feel cold; it would eventually reset itself before a staff member came to help. This was the most mediocre hotel I stayed at during the entire trip.

The room is not big and the hygiene management needs to be improved. There was an unsmoked cigarette on the sink as soon as I entered the room, and the toilet was full of cigarette smell. The management is very poor, especially since I made a note when placing the order, asking not to have a room with a smoky smell. We arrived in the early morning and were very tired. We also changed rooms once, so it felt very bad. This is the worst hygiene I have ever had in a Four Seasons hotel. There were a lot of flies in the hotel.

The room hygiene is worrying, the linens and towels are not clean, the windows are dirty, the sofa is dirty, it is not like the quality of the Four Seasons Hotel, the breakfast is too bad, and it costs 40 yuan per person, it is better to go out to eat! The rooms facing the street are very noisy, and the rooms not facing the street have no window view! Not recommended
