Best Hotels in Pisa

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 5 days and we loved every minute ! It was amazing ! People were lovely and anything we needed help with such as public transport or ordering a taxi they were happy to help. We booked breakfast included which was definitely worth it as the breakfast had a variety of options and it was delicious. The location of the hotel wasn’t in the central of Pisa but still a great place to have it and a bus stop is right outside the hotel so once we had figured out the bus system it was super useful. Overall a great hotel and great customer service.

Stayed here for 1 night in August to see Pisa before flying home after a wedding holiday, and we honestly could have stayed for a week. It was perfect to be able to relax and decompress after a busy trip in such an impressive hotel with pool grounds on the edge of Pisa. It was easy to get in and out of the centre of Pisa, the walk was fine in the day (you do have to use an underpass but plenty of other people are also using it). At night we opted for taxis, the underpass had a bit to do with this but also it was just easier for us all dressed for dinner. Our room honestly felt like luxury, this place is an absolute gem for those who want a high standard hotel whilst seeing Pisa. would 10000% recommend. Only criticism - the roof is underused. There's a disused bar that's completely empty and a handful of seats. We couldn't believe this as it was absolutely beautiful at sunset. They could definitely utilise this more to give the hotel that extra wow factor. We'd have definitely made us of it if it were running.

My wife and I stayed for two nights, a Friday and Saturday. We were unable to check in until 40 minutes after our room was supposed to be ready, check in was disorganised and the taxi we booked while checking in arrived 24 hours early at 5am with reception ringing us to wake us up. We went down to breakfast, arriving at 9.35am. Breakfast was supposed to be served until 10am. Hardly and food was left, just trays with crumbs where food had once been. No bread, no pastries, just a few bits of ham, salami and cheese and that was about it. Other people who arrived before us were also in the same situation. I gave up and went back to the room feeling disgruntled while my wife stayed and had a coffee and a few morsels, even the coffee was difficult to obtain. The hotel itself is interesting, but is in need of some TLC, the toilet was a bit smelly and the room was very tired looking. We had a room at the front overlooking the river. The air con worked ok so we were able to close the window and shutters to keep the street noise down but it was still quite noisy with traffic and the noise of people shouting etc until the early hours, to be fair it was the weekend so not entirely unexpected. Great location, but I get the feeling they rely on this and the history of the hotel to fill their rooms, simple complacency. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Cleanliness not great, such as stained upholstery on chairs. Would not stay there again. Overall disappointed, if I were you find somewhere else, too expensive for the standard of accommodation and service.

It was only a short trip of two days in Pisa before moving on to Palermo. My first time in Pisa. So we tried to book a cheap hotel room there because we would be out exploring the area and only needed a place to sleep. Pros: The Hotel IL Giardino is situated behind the historic retaining wall of the Piazza dei Miracoli. It's only 5 minutes on foot from the hotel to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, only half a minute walking before you can see the tower. The bed was fairly comfortable and there was a little fridge in my room. The hotel feels safe and has suitable door locking systems. The staff are friendly and kind. The roof terrace is quiet and cozy. Cons: Unfortunately my room doesn't have windows, only a skylight that couldn't be opened. The only fresh air was exclusively from the air conditioner. No lamp on the bedside table. Warm water in the shower doesn't come until after 5 minutes and with low pressure. The room door lock is very loud when opening and closing, especially at night when the people are asleep, also impossible to close door quietly and a loud beeping when the key card is used. The walls are poorly soundproofed. There is a little bar inside, but it was closed over the whole time we stayed there. My travel partner moved into the room opposite to mine. His room was a little better, a bedside lamp, better partitioning of the room, but also no windows in the walls. Really annoying: I paid the same as my travel partner for a different state of quality and comfort. Summary: The Hotel Il Giardino has allegedly better and more comfortable rooms in the premises. If you are traveling through and stay for a night or two, and you don't want to really reside there, this kind of room may a solution - if you don't have claustrophobia. But: the value for money is bad. It is relatively expensive, because of the famous sights there. + clean house and clean rooms + close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa + secure room door locks + fairly comfortable bed + little fridge in the room + air conditioner in single room + nice rooftop terrace + nice staff - no windows inside - no possibility to open the single skylight - no fresh air from windows possible - cold to tepid water temparature in the shower - claustrophobic ambience - slightly poor soundproofed walls - very loud door lock - low value for money

I must have started this review about 5 times because I don't really want to be negative, but then again I don't want to be positive either! We stayed here for one night, and it was enough - much like Pisa itself I feel - one day/night is enough! The location is well out of Pisa - taxi will cost in the region of €25, but if you like the idea of their thermal pools, saunas, etc it's worth it. Our room was a split level - bed above the en-suite with a decent sitting/chilling area downstairs. However I use the term ”chilling” ironically because the AC couldn't get near coping - despite having it working as hard as it could for the entire stay, it only managed to cool the room by less than one degree celsius. Opening the windows didn't help, but they opened into a corridor anyway, so privacy was a concern. Once you actually see a member of staff in the thermal baths/spa area (they seem to be rather sp**** and stay hidden - pretty sure I read that in someone else's review), they are lovely, but I genuinely felt awkward asking them to show us around - which is what the hotel receptionist had told us to ask! When we checked in, we were informed of a ”party” being hosted on the terrace that evening with food (not beverages) costing €90 each. We may have been tempted, but decided that given we were only there for one night, we'd eat in Pisa itself. On returning to the hotel we grabbed a couple of drinks at the bar and were invited (by who appeared to be the Food and Beverage manager) to enjoy our drinks on the terrace with the live music still playing - this was lovely and very thoughtful - certainly the highlight of our stay at the hotel. All in all, it's somewhat aged and needs a bit of TLC, possibly understaffed a little, and in a rural location. That said, the staff are very good and the location makes it wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. The thermal baths are beautiful and somewhat unique so it's very ”different” and for a night-or-two, you can't go wrong. I don't regret booking it, and if the AC had worked, so would probably have been a far more positive review.

Absolutely DIGUSTING and a joke of a 'hotel' I advise you all to avoid Grand hotel continental in Terrania Tuscancy . There is nothing 'grand' about the hotel. I cannot understand for the life of me how this has the status of 4 stars. I along with my family witnessed first hand rudeness whereby staff talk down to you. They are unwilling to tend to your basic needs. We arrived at the hotel a few hours behind schedule due to issues out of our control. We were met by an unpleasant uncooperative receptionist who seemed irritated by my questions. I was hoping to have clarification in regards to pool opening/closing time and housekeeping times. He was non-chalant in his replies and seemed clearly bothered communicating with me and didn't know how to respond. We indeed had on-going issues with housekeeping as she failed to clean our rooms for 3 out of the 5 days. We spoke to her and suddenly she became uncommunicative and almost zombie- like & suddenly didn't understand us when I had clearly viewed her communicating freely with ease amongst other guests. We requested for fresh sheets and towels, we were made to feel guilty for wanting our rooms cleaned and she refused to do this. We complained at reception and she was fairly pleasant and informed us she would pass this onto management ( we obviously didn't hear anything) On a separate occasion (due to the lack of towels & cleanliness in our room) we requested for more towels and was met with the response ' again?!' Absolute rudeness, I was held back from complaining from my family member (how dare you talk to us with disrespect!) I got the impression the staff are unable to accommodate in a fair & decent manner to guests who are paying a lot of money. The staff created segregation with failure to tend to our wants and BASIC needs. The rooms are unclean, basic shower room, tiny beds for a dwarf. We requested (on our first night) for a blanket we were offered with a tiny sheet. The A/C hardly worked and other guests also openly complained in the lobby. The rooms smelt like someone had died in there, damp, disgusting odour. We were given no basic necessities such as tea/coffee or even an iron. They have a dingy iron room but you need to walk down a dark corridor as they have turned the lights off to save electricity. Then you may iron (if you make it safely that is!) We feel and know we have wasted our time & money on a supposedly 4 star resort. Also, avoid the POMPOUS restaurant if you can. We had booked for half board meaning breakfast & dinner included yet they miraculously didn't have our room number written. whilst they pretended to look busy 'trying' to accommodate us with a table. Extremely disorganised and unprofessional. Of course we walked out and instead went out to eat. I must warn you the resort look's better on paper as there are only a handful of restaurants. I booked this hotel after seeing another reviewer say that they stayed here as a solo female traveller and found it clean and safe. I would echo this reviewer's comments. I stayed here for five nights, and used Pisa as a base to travel to other places (namely Lucca, Firenze, and Siena) so wanted somewhere within a reasonable walking distance of the train station as I envisioned returning to the hotel when it was dark. I took the 'Pisa mover' shuttle from the airport to Pisa Centrale station (which cost €5 and took around 5 minutes), and then the walk to Hotel Bologna with my suitcase was in pretty much a straight line through the main square and down paved and well lit streets. It took around 7 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel. I arrived at Hotel Bologna at around 10:00 and was able to leave my suitcase in a secure room (no charge) whilst I spent the day exploring Pisa. I came back around 18:00, collected my case, and formally checked in (although I could have checked in at 13:30) before heading out for dinner. Staff were mainly young and male, and were pleasant and spoke very good English. I was allocated room 16 which was on the first floor and overlooked the small car park and a patio area. There was no external noise apart from the odd aeroplane which cannot be helped anywhere in Pisa, although I imagine that (1) people might use the patio for drinks in better/warmer weather which would bother me if they were rowdy; and (2) people in the rooms which overlook the road at the front of the hotel (Via Giuseppe Mazzini) might experience a bit of traffic noise. The internal walls seemed quite thin and I suspect that the bathroom of the adjoining room was located right next to my bed as it was noisier than expected when they were having a shower and talking in the bathroom. However, luckily, the people next door weren't particularly noisy and showered at a reasonable time, so it didn't bother me per se. I stayed in a single room (single bed with en-suite) which was definitely big enough for just myself/did not feel cramped. The room was decorated in a more 'traditional Tuscan style' (think greens, reds, and golds) so not particularly 'instagram worthy' but neither am I. The room and bathroom felt and were kept very clean by housekeeping, as were the bedding and towels. The bathroom contained a toilet, shower cubicle with sliding doors, bidet, sink with large mirror, tissue dispenser, sanitary bag dispenser, toilet brush, bin with lid, and hairdryer. You receive complimentary shampoo, body wash, intimate wash, vegetable based soap bar, shower cap, and shoe sponge. In the bedroom there is another bin and a desk and chair with large mirror. Underneath the desk is a mini fridge containing a range of drinks and snacks, which I removed and instead used the fridge to store my own food and drink which I purchased from a Carrefour Express minimart which was a circa 5 minute walk away near the main shopping street. Stayed here for two nights before heading to cinque Terre. I'd give 4 stars to the staff, breakfast and location for station and walking to the tower. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was super and plentiful. And location was perfect for late arrival from Pisa airport....right next to Pisa centrale. I'd give about 2 stars for the room and general condition of the hotel. Although the rooms were clean and comfortable it was let down with poor decoration and overdue refurb. Holes in walls, need of redecorating and fefit. We had an adjoining room and could hear everything on the other side...even zipping up their case...poor. NH need to do a walk around and see the problems here. Paid £135 per night. Don't think I got my money's worth. No fault of the staff they can only work with what they've got. Come on NH.

The hotel started to navigate a little bit twists and turns in the past. After moving in, I felt that the room was spacious and bright, the service was in place, and the food was good. I will stay here next time, like it!
