I don't agree with those good reviews, such as the host's hospitality. For these good reviews, I canceled my previous reservation and changed to this homestay. I even changed my itinerary in Dubrovnik from two days to three days. But in this house I feel racism and sexism, maybe I have an Asian face and not fluent in English. The airport taxi only costs 160 yuan, and Uber only costs 70 yuan, but the landlord charged me 200 yuan because I stopped in a small supermarket for 15 minutes on the way to his house. On the way, he introduced some attractions near his home. Also poured us two glasses of wine, but none of what he said was what we asked for.

We stayed at Villa Samba in Plat for a week in May 2023 as a couple to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. I booked this directly with Nikola after finding their website. We stayed in the one bedroom apartment. When we arrived we were collected from the airport (Dubrovnik airport) by Nikola’s Son, which we prearranged with Nikola via email. We stopped off at a supermarket on the way to Villa Samba so that we could stock up. The car journey only took around 15/20 minutes, we were surprised just how close to the airport Villa Samba is and it made it so much easier than getting on the usual holiday coach with everyone else! Nikola’s son also gave us a lift back to the airport on our return journey which was also prearranged. When we arrived at Villa Samba we were shown around the apartment then had a short time to unpack while they were waiting for other guests to arrive. The apartment was exactly as per the photos, very clean, kitchen/living area with balcony to the side, bathroom with shower cubical and double bedroom with TV and balcony. The balcony off the bedroom is to the front and has a view onto the quiet road and sea. The kitchen had a 2 ring electric hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. There was no oven in the apartment we stayed in and no freezer – we expected this prior to arrival as it does clearly say on the website, however it contained everything that we needed for our week’s stay. The pool area is at the back of Villa Samba up some stairs and is lovely and clean (Nikola cleaned daily). There is a small supermarket (like a Co-Op) a 10-15 minute walk from Villa Samba which has opened recently. It doesn’t seem to get very busy so I would check before travelling that it is still there and open. When everyone arrived we were called to the welcome chat where we were offered a glass of Nikola’s homemade red wine or coffee (both were lovely). Nikola gave us lots of useful information about the area, different places to visit and trips that we could do. We found this really useful and it matched the information that I found when researching online. We chose the location of Villa Samba as we wanted to spend time in Dubrovnik with the benefit of being able to visit other places too. On our first full day we decided to get the bus into Dubrovnik, the bus stop is a 5 minute walk from Villa Samba and a bus timetable was in the apartment. The bus into Dubrovnik was 2.90 euro per person and took around 20-25 minutes to reach the old town of Dubrovnik. If you prefer taxis Ubers are really good value and cheaper than what they are in the UK. I would recommend that if you would like to visit Dubrovnik try to look at what cruise ships are in on each day first and avoid those days if possible as it gets very busy. We purchased the Dubrovnik pass online and walked the walls early in the morning (to avoid the crowds), it really is an amazing place and the views are spectacular! We also took the cable car (27 euro per person return) up to the

I will attempt to keep my review brief. I'm a firm believer of, if you have nothing positive to say, then don't post! However, I feel I must share our experience to any families who are considering staying at Villa Samba, to well and truly avoid. My family of 4 recently stayed at Villa Samba for my husbands 50th birthday. The owner Nicola kindly gifted my husband with a kraft of red wine. Within 24hrs we discovered the owners do not like children and teens! The place has a nice pool, which the owner is super-precious about, as he made the point of how much it cost him to build. We did only use the pool once and that was enough, as my husband was spoken to very rudely by owner Nicola, all because my daughter had accidently knocked and turned on the infinity pool switch . We wasn't informed the pool even had such feature, and though it came on automatically. The following morning I was told off for leaving a porch light overnight. There were other abrupt interactions with the owner, which I won't bore you with! The apartment itself was spotless, and that's the only positive thing I have to say about the place. There is no local shop/convenience store nearby, you have to drive or catch a bus. There are a couple of restaurants nearby, which are average. If you are visiting as a couple, you should be ok...providing you do not use the owners €300,000 swimming pool!

What can I say that hasn't already be said? Nikola and Anna were the perfect hosts making myself and 3 teenage daughters like past of the family. The whole place is immaculately clean, the room was pristine, and Nikola helped facilitate 4 trips for us to Monte*****, Bosnia Herzegovina, Lokrum Island and the Elfetite islands. I recommend all 4 trips. We travelled we llwd round via uberas there was 4 of us and it worked out cheaper and easier than buses. and you never have to wait more than 5 minutes for a uber. Nearby Cavtat is stunning for a day trip or for something to eat as there's restaurants all along the harbour. I would come back in a heartbeat to sit on the balcony and watch the sun go down again. It was the perfect most peaceful place, with beautiful walks down to the 4 or 5 beaches, beautiful warm sea s which will hold a place in my heart forever. I WILL MOST DEFINITELY BE BACK!

Excellent apartment with amazing sea views. Very friendly hosts, we had complimentary drinks on arrival (and they came to say goodbye when we left). The maid visited daily and she was very friendly and very efficient. The pool area is spotless. Nearest restaurants are a few hundred metres away, although there are more eating and drinking choices in nearby towns. There is a regular bus service and Ubers were plentiful and reasonably priced.

I first stayed in Plat as a 10 year old, 40 years ago. We came to stay in Villa Samba as part of my 50th birthday travelling celebrations this year. I wanted to return to Croatia, which was Yugoslavia on my first visit, as I remember the friendliness of the people and the good food. We couldn't have wished for more from a location or accomodation. Anna and Nikola are such friendly owners and offered great advice on things to do in the area. They take real pride in their accomodation block. (And strangely I found out that Nikola may have been playing traditional music on my first visit in the now overgrown ruin of the Hotel Plat down on Plat beach). Reasons to come here: 1. Plat is close to the airport but you don't hear the planes. 2. The apartment we stayed in was immaculate with breathtaking views. 3. There is a bus route which goes right past the apartments just up on the main road. 4. Dubrovnik is just 15 mins away on the bus and worth a couple of trips to explore the beautiful town and don't forget a trip to Lokkrum island on a boat from Dubrovnik harbour. 5. The stunning harbour town of Cavtat is 15 mins in the opposite direction and worth a day spent there. 6. The traditional village of Cilipi is just past the airport and worth visiting on a Sunday morning to watch the performanace of the traditional dances in traditional costume. 7. We planned to visit Monte***** and Mostar, neither of which did we do, due to illness, but both trips are easily doable from this location. 8. Visit the river Gruda and spend a peaceful day walking the river, through the shadey woodland with perhaps a spot of lunch at Konoba Vinica Monkovic or Konavoski Dvori Eco Green Restuaurant. We ate at the latter and had a very tasty meal, not the biggest portion ever and a bit pricey but it was a beautiful setting and very good food. We hired a car, which we booked in the UK before we travelled, collected it at the airport and used it every day except when visiting Dubrovnik-it was easier to go in on the bus. I would not hesitate to recommend these apartments. We hope to visit again someday. Anna and Nikola, "Hvala puno"....thanks for a great stay!

Beautiful family run accommodation in quiet location with spectacular views. The owners were friendly & welcoming also very informative & helpful with advice about the local area. Our apartment was large, spotlessly clean & well-equipped with 2 balconies with beautiful views. The pool was beautiful & clean with a jacuzzi feature & plenty of sunbeds & umbrellas. Plat is a quiet location with just a couple of restaurants & a few pebble beaches but a great base to explore the area between Dubrovnik & Cavtat. The no 10 bus is regular & reliable & stops 5 mins from Villa Samba (pay cash on the bus, less than 4 e per journey) or Uber is a cheap alternative & the boat from Plat to Dubrovnik costs around 15 euro return. There is a small supermarket next to the pizzeria around 10 mins walk away, open till around 9pm except Sundays. King Konoba restaurant, Poseidon & the Pizzeria on the main road were all good & recommended. Our first visit to Croatia and we loved it. We will definitely return to Villa Samba if we get chance - highly recommended!

Had a great stay at Villa Samba! Host was very welcoming and had a package of important and useful information about the area. Bit outnof town but easy to get into the city of Dubrovnik or Old Town using the ferry and/or bus, uber. Quiet, safe area with a few nice beaches and restaurants nearby.

Villa Samba is situated in Plat, a small village approximately 20 minutes from Dubrovnik airport. We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment which was spacious, well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There is a daily maid service to empty bins and provide clean towels if required. The apartment had two balconies, each with magnificent views. The pool area is fabulous - comfortable sun beds (with umbrellas and cushions) and there is also a covered area for additional shade. The owners, Nikola and Anna, live on site and were approachable and extremely helpful throughout our stay. Nikola provided detailed information about the area on arrival (including a welcome drink) and also detailed written information is provided in each apartment. Nikola offers to assist with car hire and excursions if needed. We can also recommend his delicious home made wine which he sells at a very reasonable price for the quality. Plat has four easily accessible pebble beaches and there are five restaurants and a small supermarket within walking distance. The village is not suitable for holiday makers seeking a vibrant nightlife close by. For venturing further afield a regular bus service to Dubrovnik and Cavtat is near to the accommodation. If you are seeking a chilled and relaxing holiday, Villa Samba is perfect.
