I am 33 years old, and I have traveled the five continents, but this is the first time I sleep in a place that noisy. This place was hell and I had to leave before getting insane. I wouldn’t recommend it for the world. First, the all building is not wheelchair accessible. Second, I had brought some cheese from France that got stolen in the fridge. Btw, the fridge was in a deplorable state and I don’t even mention its smell. Third, the restaurant down the street plays extremely loud music all day. Fourth, this music played was so repetitive that I could sing the all musical repertoire of Willie Colón by the end of my stay. Consequently, I had to leave for another location to catch some sleep and get some rest. So, I tried to communicate on various channels to the receptionist of Selina to get my money back, but She stopped answering to my messages. So sorry for the audience if I am going that low, but I won’t hesitate in posting new comments in every language I know of; and in publishing stories on my Instagram account if I don’t get my refund right away. The situation has lasted long enough, and I’d like it to stop now. I still would like to give a special thanks to Jimena (the chief happiness officer) who advised me to discover Isla Mujeres. That was a resting weekend. Thanks again for your consideration.

The hostel is nice and the facilities are adequate. However, we returned ready to refill our water bottles in the kitchen but the water tank was empty. We spotted a full water tank behind the bar and asked if they could fill our reusable bottles with it. At reception they told us we had to buy plastic bottles of water, costing us over £1 for the smallest bottle of water. We contested and pointed out there was a perfectly good tank of water behind the bar but they told us we couldn’t have it. Apparently drinking water is only available until 10pm, if this had been made clear we could have refilled before the cut off. Completely appalling that we had to pay for bottles that damage the environment when it the situation could have been easily resolved. Not happy at all- PLEASE make signs displaying the cut off time or even better provide a back up tank for those needing water later in the evening.

Selina at Isla Muheris is amazing. It was great professional staff and a beautiful interior and beach view. I did not like the smell of the dirty water at the back. I will visit again if you ask me. I hope they will recycle the water in an efficient and eco friendly manner.

Dear Selina Support, To Whom It May Concern; The management team at Selina Playa Del Carmen is claiming that a new law was passed in Quintana Roo state where outside alcoholic drinks cannot be brought into the premises. However after much research I have confirmed this is not true. I've visited other hostels and hotels and they all have confirmed outside drinks are still allowed to be brought into the premises as long as they are drank in the common kitchen area or in bedrooms as to not interfere with bar/restaurant operations. Furthermore, the other Selina's in the area, including Tulum, Isla Mujeres, and both Cancun locations, this is not enforced there. Here they will not allow you inside with any outside alcohol, which was not part of the terms & conditions when I signed up for the co-live package. Additionally, the management team is keeping a dog in the reception area which has caused Scabiosis to my partner. We've already had to spend over $1000 pesos in medication & treatments to resolve this to which they claimed I have an STD and transmitted it to my partner. I've never felt so disrespected in my life. We have medical documentation that it was a condition transmitted from a K9. I've just booked an AirBNB from today until Friday when my room in Cancun is ready due to the disrespect I've felt from management as well as the security team. I refuse to stay any longer at Selina Playa del Carmen so I've spent an extra $233 on an accomodation. I hope I get some kind of retribution in monetary form due to my extreme unpleasant experience at this hostel. The security team is just plain rude and completely unhelpful and micromanage guests as to watch them directly in security cameras for no reason. The guest experience representative, Ana, is of no use to guest feedback as she often just blows it off and never escalates any issues or gets anywhere when resolving guest concerns. Pedro micro manages his employees. And Linda the Manager of Selina Playa Del Carmen is the one who came up with the prior mentioned bogus rule of not allowing outside alcoholic drinks inside the premises. I've never heard of such said law and there's not much record or evidence of it. When you inquire about it they will redirect you to a 53-page PDF file and tell you to read through it to find out what the restriction is. Another person I'd like to point out is Tara, she is an Intern from Holland whom I directly heard saying she thinks I have an STD and passed it onto my partner. She is a gossiper who does not deserve her position at Selina and is only talking about guests behind their back. She should focus on her Internship instead of judging guests based on her presumptions based out of Holland. To be honest, Tara is the one who made me feel the most disrespected as I heard the gossip in the common kitchen as part of conversation and it really destroyed my Selina experience. I hope she is severely disciplined based upon her poor judgement skills and ability to h

Selina is not a party hostel. If you are looking for a more quiet hotel/hostel to connect with other travellers and Digital Nomads or get some work done then enjoy chill events in the evenings, this is the spot for you. Rooms are decent with a few areas that could use a bit of a fix up/additions of amenities. The staff are very kind and accommodating, super friendly and after time can become like family. If you want a super convenient location for most things you need and connections to be made, this is a fantastic spot. Everything is literally around the corner including the clubs and bars for nighttime adventures which are minutes walk away.

I did not want a super party hostel, but I was not looking for a retirement home either! Over the last three weeks this place has gone downhill, it appears nearly empty, when the other well known hostels are nearly at capacity. On a journey to become more centered, I partook in some of the yoga classes and meditation classes, they announced on the board every morning. However, sometimes the information is incorrect, hurting both the student and instructor. They now have decided that 8PM is pool cut off time, even though they blast music until 1AM. It appears to be pure mismanagement or laziness, but the pool really got to me! I am enrolled in a great language school. Selina hostels are great around the world, so if I leave Playa, I will certainly pick another Selina, as I am enrolled in the month to month program. However, if I stay here, I will have to find another hostel that does not have a strict "No Fun Policy." I have 8 days left, so I will find a good one, or move on to another city and Selina in Mexico!
