HL Rondo Hotel

Excellent hotel, everything was brand new and an impeccable standard. Particularly enjoyed the pool area and À la carte breakfast. Would recommend!

We first visited this hotel in May, and it was a 5 star experience, but unfortunately this September it did not live up to our prior experience, which breaks my heart to say. We arrived late at night, tired and thirsty. We went to our room, 512, which i had requested after staying in this room in May, and after plugging something in, bang, the electrics went. We went down to reception and the night receptionist moved us into 521, which was not a superior room and we slept there for one night, before moving back to 512 in the morning. Not the best start. We also had to run down to reception asking for some water as none had been provided in the fridge beforehand, as was done in May. The pool area seems to have developed an issue with sun bed reservations. There are notices to say not to leave towels, or they will be taken off within 15 minutes. This was not the case, and the best were often left with towels but no guests for hours at a time. We saw three life guards during our visit. The grey haired one was spot on, constantly around the pool, the second was a young man who sat and observed from a chair, and the other was an older dark haired man with longer hair who sat his phone and picked his nose and flicked it in the direction of the pool for most of the afternoon. Once again, the food trucks were not open, which are situation upstairs next to the pool toilets, including the disabled toilet, which is particularly odd as how is a disabled person supposed to climb the slippery stairs to the toilet? Just a thought. The pool itself has lots of dirt in it, as though maybe the filter is not working properly? Not the end of the world as we dont use the pool very often. The receptionists were not as friendly or attentive this time around, especially the younger ladies, and they did a lot of shrugging and did not seem to even entertain the thought of letting us pay for late check out on either of the rooms on the last day, so we had to make do with Room 114, which was a courtesy room where our party of 3 had half an hour to shower, 10 minutes each like a relay race. Someone had used it before us so there were dirty towels and grime in the shower cubicle. Not a great experience bearing in mind we could not fault it when we came in May and were SO looking forward to returning and having the same experience again. Also, the lift in the outside atrium were not working (the back of the hotel) so my mother in law in her mobility scooter always had to use the front of the hotel to leave the premises. Why not get the lift in service so we can all use both exits? As for the good points, not as many as last time unfortunately. The breakfast was edible, the fresh toasties were delicious and restaurant staff always welcoming and attentive, but PLEASE get better quality sausages, the frankfurter things are not the best for the supposed rating of the hotel. The room itself was the same as last time; modern, clean, airy and bright with huge balconies. Love

My husband and I stayed for 3 weeks and we had a fabulous time, First I would like to thank the manager very much for bottle of wine and chocolate on arrival as it was our 49 wedding anniversary also for lovely room superior suites exactly as advertised very nice We stayed bed and breakfast only which where outstanding the staff are so professional helpful and always had a smile also worked perfectly as a team The cleaning staff also where excellent,and not too forgetting the SOS staff especially the one with ponytail very professional goes with the rules from board ie no toys in pool etc…also bar and reception staff wonderful thank you all for making our holiday great,we will return again .

I don't often give 5 star reviews, but I award this hotel 5 stars with great pleasure! From start to finish, the whole experience was absolutely wonderful. When we arrived we were greeted by Stephan on reception, and from then we knew that we would have the best time. He was informative, friendly and treated us like we had been to the hotel many times before. As for other staff, from Raquael on reception to the housekeeping, they all do a fantastic job. The room we booked was a Deluxe Junior Suite, which is one of the best, on the fifth floor (Room 512) and it was pristine. Light, modern and airy with immaculate furnishings and fittings. We had a huge glass balcony with outlook of Playa De Ingles, and felt like we had our own bit of privacy. We had chocolates and wine waiting for us when we arrived, which was great touch, and then on the next day for my partners birthday, he got gifted wine and chocolates too. The attention is definitely in the detail! We were there on a bed and breakfast basis, but we are not early risers, especially after a late night at Yumbo, so we only ate breakfast twice. A small selection of cooked items, pastries, fruit and juices - my only issue is it could be hotter as was only lukewarm, and the sausages need to be better. They were very small processed chipolata hotdog type sausages which are a no no for me. But I can turn a blind eye to that. The facilities in general within the hotel are brilliant. The pool area is very comfortable, all sun beds are cabana style with large umbrellas and thick mattresses. There's a couple of jacuzzi areas that are never busy, and the pool itself was a very good temperature, not particularly cold at all. We didn't sample the food trucks on the top level as unfortunately they were closed the whole week, but not the end of the world. We did not hear any loud noise from Axel Hotel next door, and it was private enough not to be overlooked by it. The hotel itself has 2 lifts and always very accessible if you have any disabled people with you. The gate at the back of the hotel is usually open (use keycard) until the evening so it means you dont have to walk the whole way around the hotel to get in if coming from that direction. The hotel is all very central. 5 minute walk to Yumbo, 15 to the beach. Would we go back again? YES. And that is all that matters.
