I don't normally write bad reviews. But the only good thing about this 3-star hotel was the garden by the lake. It's a completely old and run-down hotel. Since the lobby is intertwined with the restaurant, the smell of food is prevalent in the hotel. There is no approach to welcoming customers with a smile and courtesy at the reception anyway. A filthy room that you can't even see in one-star suburban hotels. The bathroom is dirty, the walls are moldy from humidity. The bathtub is pitch black. There are stains on the sheets. I can't even find words to describe the refrigerator. Even $5 is too much for the hotel room we paid $65 for.

I had an excellent stay at Hotel Sudu Araliya in Polonnaruwa! The location is absolutely stunning, offering breathtaking views and a serene ambiance. The highlight of my visit was witnessing the sunset – it was a truly magical experience. The food was delicious, with a great variety to satisfy every palate. The staff provided exceptional customer service, always friendly and attentive to our needs, making the stay even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with great views, excellent food, and warm hospitality, Hotel Sudu Araliya is the perfect choice. Highly recommended! 🌅🍽️✨

The hotel has a beautiful garden with 360 degree view of the Lake, thats the only positive aspect of the hotel, i booked a lake view room but was given a partial view room. The room didn’t have a mini bar, hairdryer not working, there was noshower gels, when requested they told only shampoo is provided, which is very weird. Its a run down hotel and needs a revamp of its amenities to be called a four star hotel. For me this is worth a 3 star hotel. There is no shops or hotels nearby, so plan everything before coming to the hotel

This was a great location in Polonnaruwa. We loved all the services provided. The hotel had a great garden and I would say this is one of the best hotel gardens ever experienced in Sri Lanka. I specially thank front office “Hansika” which she was very proactive in helping out, also her wonderful customer service to all of us stayed at the hotel. We also would like to thank “Dilshan” for his services throughout dining. We wish both of these staff very well and hope to come back soon. Also would definitely recommend the place for wonderful stay with fantastic views over Parakrama Samdudraya.

The room was very clean and the service was good. It was right by the lake and the sunset was beautiful. It's just that it's stingy. It charges more than 7,000 for a 12-year-old child. Although the hotel policy is like this, it doesn't feel very good.

It's clean. I got a lake view room. We could see the sparkling lake and sunset from the large windows of our room.

Останавливались в этом отеле на одну ночь. Отель очень понравился. Персонал замечательный, внимательный и улыбчивый. Быстро откликается на просьбы. В номере было только одно одеяло и не было фена, сказали на ресепшине, через 20 минут все принесли. Мы брали полупансион, получился в итоге ужин и завтрак. Еда вполне вкусная, ну конечно не без ланкийской острой еды, но и из не острого было что выбрать. Также при бронировании просили в коментариях номер подальше от лифта и красивый вид, наши пожелания учли, за что отдельное спасибо. Из минусов пожалуй немного потрепанный номер, но для нас это не критично, главное везде чисто.

The first room they gave us was changed due to a damaged & water leaking AC. Also, the telephone was not working. Took around 1 hour to give another room. Rooms were not soundproof. You can hear the sounds coming from the next room's bathroom & corridors. 🤮 Very disturbing. Couldn't sleep. Bathroom was not clean. Yellow stains everywhere. Seems like a public washroom. Disgusting to use. This hotel should rated below 1 star.

Just spent three days at this hotel in Polonnaruwa, and honestly, it was everything I hoped for. The whole vibe was calm, peaceful, and super refreshing – exactly what you want when you’re trying to escape the busy everyday routine. The hospitality from the staff really stood out. They were warm, friendly, and always helpful without being over the top. Service felt smooth and effortless the whole time, from check-in to check-out. For what you get, the price is very reasonable too. Good rooms, great atmosphere, and proper Sri Lankan hospitality bundled into one place? Worth every cent. If you want a quiet getaway spot in Polonnaruwa, I’d definitely recommend staying here. I’m already wishing I had booked a longer stay!
