Accommodation in need of refurbishment, friendly staff accommodating to provide portable heater for bedroom that has no heating.

Room space and cleanliness is average. Water in hotel not drinkable, nor useable and it is yellowish. Though they provide bottle water, it's troublesome coz need to keep asking for water to drink, brush teeth and even rinse cup. No automatic room cleaning like changing of towels and refilling toiletries. Insects can be seen crawling in the bedroom. Disappointed w the overall experience staying at the hotel given its not so cheap price and photos on trip.com.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fox and Hounds Historic Hotel. Very clean, warm and comfortable room. Staff are very helpful and friendly and the food is amazing. Will definitely stay again and highly recommend.

A quaint hotel close to the historic Port Arthur site. We were given a cosy 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen, lounge and dining area so we cooked the food we already had. Great service from the reception staff. Can't comment on the restaurant as we didn't eat there. I would definitely stay there again. No hesitation in recommending this budget hotel for accommodation.

Nice room with water view ,old pub with good meals.

The room is very dusty, not clean. However, the sea view is stunning.

Quirky place. Our room was very nice but looks like it has recently been renovated with new furniture and tiling in the bathroom but just a few old surfaces still left that detracts from what could be a beautiful room. Only 1 bedside table is a strange thing to have in a queen room. The bed rolls away if you sit up against the bed head. But, I had a fantastic sleep with what feels like new bed, bedding and pillows. I felt it was strange that the bed did not have the top sheet, just a quilt. The food at the pub is typical pub food and very nice but in my opinion expensive. $30 for a chicken schnitzel, tiny salad that can really only be called garnish and a small amount of hot chips. But it was ver nice. Saying that, so far I am finding Tasmania is expensive which says a lot considering I live on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

, very disappointing stay! If I could give less than 1 I would. No contact with owners! Walked up to doors to find a sign with a phone number to ring, was given a code to get into key box, owner was hard to understand on phone. Half the place was closed down! No reception, no restaurant, no bar & no bottle shop as was advertised! As it was our honeymoon they said they were going to upgrade to the honeymoon suite but she said there is a spa in there but it is broken, so no real upgrade as our original room was virtually the same! Bathroom was grose there was hair on floor and walls, mould around Bathroom. No treated water at all just couple of bottled water in fridge. TV didn't work! Place is very run down! Needs lots of attention. Not worth $100 per night! Wish I had of read reviews first but was in a rush.

Facilities: The electric heater does not work, but the air conditioner can be adjusted to heat. The water quality is not good, and the front desk will provide bottled water instead, which can be refilled if it is not enough. Hygiene: The room is very clean, but the water quality is not good, it is very yellow. When checking in, the front desk clearly informed me that this is not tap water and cannot be taken. Environment: Port Arthur used to be a prison. I have to admire Dai Ying's vision. This place can be said to be the Ningguta of Australia. Now it is more like a tourist attraction, not even a small town. Service: The front desk can probably be open until 8 pm. The room was a bit cold, and the front desk lent me a small sun, which was very useful!

There was some problem with the water quality. I replaced it with mineral water. Everything else is normal.
