Everything is fine, just a bit old. The environment is surrounded by greenery, but the signage at the entrance isn't very clear. When there aren't many guests, it's hard to find someone to talk to. The food and accommodation are okay, but the facilities need updating to be more modern and suitable for current times.

Hacklewood Hill is a beautiful historical house set in lush gardens. The service and attention to detail is outstanding. However, the meals are exceptional and highly recommended. All staff are friendly, professional and highly attentive.

Guest house in pleasant and quite setting. Stayed just the one night but should have stayed a little longer. Staff were courteous and helpful. They served up a lovely vegetarian meal for the evening. Had afternoon tea on the veranda which I found quite relaxing.

Stayed at Hacklewood for a relaxing evening between Safari and 7.00am flight as close to airport Staff were superb, food outstanding, highly recommended as a lovely hotel to relax

We stayed at this beautiful house in a peaceful setting as a small family group. The rooms were luxurious, the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive, the surroundings were lovely. And it was great value. It was the perfect ending to our amazing trip to South Africa and the perfect place to celebrate a big birthday. We will definitely be back. Thank for a wonderful stay.

The beachfront is not always the best place to stay in Gqeberha - if you're looking for intimate 5 star lodgings and service, Hacklewood Hill is a great alternative that will take youback in time.

Best kept secret in Port Elizabeth. Stately old house with old school values and quality. The food under the leadership of Natasha is the best in town. Can also be used by outside quests as function and restaurant.

We fell in love with this place the moment we walked in. The friendly and helpful staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, even in the little details. The room is spacious, bed comfortable and decor makes it feel warm and cozy. The food was exceptional. We cant wait to go back again.

I was recommended Hacklewood Hill as the venue to get ready with my MOH and Bridesmaid for my wedding. We spent the day and night before there as well as the wedding night. We were treated like royalty and no task was too big or too small. The staff were so lovely, helpful and attentive and the attention to detail was noticeable. HH Country House really is a special place and I can't recommend it enough.

Lovely stay with very attentive staff both in hotel and for meals. Chumile, who was apparently training, was excellent. A lovely experience allowing return to yesteryear in the hustle and bustle of port Elizabeth

Stayed in the Sunbird Room at this beautiful quaint Victorian Hotel. We were met with a really warm welcome by Brenda and Paul and immediately felt relaxed in this wonderful setting surrounded by photographs and information of the family history. Our room was spacious, well equipped and had a complementary coffee making machine .The balcony overlooked the tennis court and got the sunshine in the morning, so it was nice to sit and enjoy a coffee. (Tennis raquets provided)Service was excellent, staff attentive, polite and courteous. Gardens were immaculate and there is opportunity to lie on sunbeds and enjoy a dip in the small pool .Food is of amazing quality with a choice of cooked breakfast options. They provided an early morning breakfast pack for our 5 am journey to the airport. Hacklewood House also has a sister hotel on a nearby beach, but we did not visit.

A beautiful Stay, the photos don’t do this place justice. Brenda & Paul made our stay so welcoming. They are amazing at creating a lovely environment. Very friendly and beautiful food cooked so personal and so attentive and very very tasty. Extremely well priced also. Paul helped us pick the most beautiful South African wine. They made our first stop in South Africa so amazing and the perfect start to our honeymoon. Thank you so much.

We didn't sleep over at Hacklewood Hill this time, but enjoyed 5 star dining! We have experienced only the best service on all of our previous visits!
