"Comfortable stay, decor is quaint and traditional but still nice. Rooms are spacious. The balconies are shared though which felt a bit unsafe. But nevertheless a comfortable stay and good location next to the mall."

📍 La Roche Dr &, Beach Rd, Humewood, Port Elizabeth
★★ 8.0 (15 reviews)

"Upon arrival the staff was friendly and helpful. The location was ideal for us as a family because it's close to the beach and that's what we wanted. Our room was clean and had everything we needed , we even had a partial view of the ocean (that was exciting ). The only disappointing part was the fact that the microwave was not working and we weren't able to warm up our takeaways and it seems as if it had stopped working for a while , if it had stopped working for a while why is it on display at the front without notice and why isn't it fixed ? . I need the management to look into that. Otherwise fantastic location , near the beach and is convenient for us as a family .We had an amazing experience at the hotel last year December 2025 and we've again booked for this year as we will be spending our dec-Jan holidays there for 2026."

Courtyard Hotel Gqeberha

Courtyard Hotel Gqeberha

📍 Boardwalk Rd, Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth
★★★★ 8.5 (66 reviews)

"Do not order room service at this hotel. It takes an hour or more or never comes! And no phones in room. I ordered a simple toasted sandwhich -- after more than an hour I walked over -- and was told it was delivered -- probably to someone else! After waiting 10 min to find out what was going on -- I left and went to be hungry!"

The Kelway Hotel

The Kelway Hotel

📍 Brookes Hill St, Dr, Port Elizabeth

"The location of the hotel is awesome closer to the beach and has rooms that are see facing, the food was good. The pool is also nice."

"This hotel is located outside the city. The surrounding area is very quiet, the yard is spacious, and the environment is elegant. It is very suitable for self-driving people to stay here. We were given a 𠆤 suite, which has a kitchen and can be used for cooking. It was very comfortable to live in. If we come to Port Elizabeth again, we will choose this hotel again."

"I had a pleasant stay overall, with several aspects of the guesthouse standing out positively. The room was clean, exceptionally spacious (one of the larger units), and well-maintained. The hostesses were friendly, attentive, and highly responsive to any queries. The cleaning staff were equally commendable—approachable, helpful, and thorough in their duties. The guesthouse is conveniently located in a quiet area of Summerstrand, making it both easily accessible and peaceful. The pool area was well-kept and clean, and the private entrances to the rooms contributed to a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I did not make use of the breakfast offering during my stay. However, despite these positives, I was left somewhat disappointed. The guesthouse website lists several facilities, including DSTV with 50 channels, a clock radio, a steamer, face cloths, and slippers in all rooms. Unfortunately, none of these items were available in my room. While the television does support platforms such as Netflix, YouTube, and DSTV, guests are required to use their own login credentials. Additionally, my stay coincided with load shedding caused by a powerline failure in the Summerstrand area. This significantly impacted the overall experience, as the guesthouse does not appear to have sufficient backup power in place. Although there is a solar and inverter system, it only supported limited lighting and Wi-Fi, with no power available for plug points, televisions, or other essential amenities. Given that this area is frequently affected by power supply challenges, it is surprising that more robust contingency measures have not been implemented. While there are certainly strong points to this establishment, the lack of adequate backup infrastructure would make it difficult to confidently return in the future."

"Lovely location with secure parking. Room was huge with separate lounge and bedroom. However although there are two large windows it never really had full sunshine and was dingy requiring lights at any time of day. There is no bath plug and you need to request this if you want a bath as there is a water shortage. We had dinner on the first night in the Jazz restaurant. The food was a little too fussy for our liking but was good quality. Breakfast is fruit juice to start and then a choice of breakfasts ranging from continental to cooked. You can only have one cup of coffee at a time and it seems to take quite a time to arrive. Would be good to have a pot. Staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. Short drive to the beach and very close to the airport. "

"IT was absolutely amazing is every way possible. We would recommend Thunzi Bush Lodge to anyone. The views were absolutely breathtaking. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was perfect and had everything we needed. The outdoor bath was fantastic!"

Isango Gate Hotels in Port Elizabeth

Isango Gate

"The location of the place is great, it is at a quiet suburb and is at the same time close by to amenities. The staff was pleasant and professional. The food was great, a big thank you to the chefs. The reception service could be improved as I left without the TV connectivity having been solved. The bathrooms are great. However, the carpets are dirty, both in the room and on the common areas, including the staircase. "

"It's a 5 minutes walk to the airport. It's a very clean, well run hotel that is modestly priced. I wanted somewhere very close to the airport and wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised and would recommend it to others."

Courtyard Hotel Gqeberha ★★★★
"A secure functional chain hotel with plenty of parking. Our room was large although the bathroom felt a bit dated. The staff on reception didn't go out of their way to explain what facilities the hotel had or what was in the surrounding area. They didn't have a map available either. On our first night we ate in the hotel restaurant. Although for most of the time their was only us and one other table the service was slow. When our meals eventually arrived they were no more than luke warm. It took over 20 minutes for a bottle of sparkling mineral water to arrive. When it did it clearly had been shaken up on it's way as it sprayed out all over the table. After we had signed the bill so that it could be put on our room the waitress came to our room and said that we had to pay for it separately. We ate out on our second night! Although there were a lot of notices about saving water due to a drought when our room was serviced the towels were changed, even though we were only staying two nights, and the face cloth disappeared."
