Response from Property: Thank you for your review and I am pleased you enjoyed the design of Drift House and our service. I want to point out that we are an extremely small restaurant, we source local produce where we can, often organic or home grown and absolutely everything is highly considered and cooked from scratch. We put our heart and souls into our offering. We regularly keep an eye on prices elsewhere and would consider for what we offer that we are great value. If you compare our wine prices with other restaurants you will find them invariably lower, both by the glass and the bottle. Comparing prices to a cellar door doesn’t take into account all the costs associated with serving it to you in a restaurant. Please consider how you are making other people feel when you write your reviews and voice criticism.

I am sorry we were not open for dinner on the night of your stay. Guests who stay one night always comment they wish they stayed longer......

Response from Property: Dear Mrs Wallace (I recall that this is how you prefer to be addressed) Checking in at Drift House is a simple affair. We introduce ourselves and give guests their bearings around town. While we are processing payment, we ask that guests read our house guide. This has all the information needed to have an enjoyable stay; practical details such as wifi passwords, breakfast service start time etc. I am sorry it upset you so much to be asked to take a minute to read through this information. I am also sorry that you did not enjoy your suite. Drift House is designed by award-winning design studio, Multiplicity and has won a several prestigious hotel design awards, however we do understand that great design can be polarizing and will not suit everyone. We are unsure as to why you found your room impractical as you have not been specific. I recall you arrived for breakfast when we were still setting up. In fact our front of house staff had not even arrived at work yet, hence the lights not being on. We appreciate your feedback here and will note this for future guests arriving before we open. We are a very small hotel, run by a fabulous team. Our a ‘la carte dinner menu is prepared fresh for each service. We often make just one really outstanding dessert. I recall you were not interested in looking at our dessert menu so I am surprised this also upset you. The funny thing is that your husband was very positive about his stay when he checked out and generously tipped our team!
