We booked 17 nights in this place and arrived yesterday afternoon. We were shown the room and where things we located. The bathroom is very small and we didn't really focus on it. Rather, we unloaded our stuff and left for some appointments, returning to the room at 9 p.m. I thought I would take a shower at that time and that's when I noticed first that the bath mat, neatly folded and on top of the toilet was very, very damp. Then I noticed all the black mold inside the shower. At that point my husband started looking and pointed at all the black mold, around the teeny, tiny sink, up in the corner of the bathroom, all around the toilet tank. and in various places on the tile walls. We decided that we would contact the on-site manager in the morning due to the late hour. This morning my husband contacted the management and asked them to come up and look at it. Once a gentleman arrived he basically blamed it on us for not opening the window high up in the bathroom and for not putting on the heat. There is no heat in the kitchen or bathroom and there is only a space heater in the main living area that only puts off heat within about a food on each side. And, we didn't use the shower because it was too disgusting. This mold has been growing for quite some time and didn't just happen because we didn't open a window. This morning I also noticed that an area of the bathroom floor seems to stay perpetually wet. We also discovered mold growing under the kitchen window and along the baseboard in the living area. Maybe the other rooms are better, but I find that hard to believe. We are reporting this to whatever health service in Portugal that manages such things.
