Best Hotels in Portofino

The location of the hotel is good. Although it doesn't have its own beach, there is a small free public bath across the road with showers. There is a paid bath next to it, renting two chairs and an umbrella, 70 euros a day😱 is too exaggerated, we bought a parasol and a mat for only 35 euros and camped in the public bath. The beach conditions in the nearby town are better, and the price is only 45 Euros a day. Booked a sea view room with a nice view from the large balconies on both sides. The bar on the roof has a good view, 15 euros for a glass of cocktail, but there are free snacks, which is not bad👌

This place is memorable, but not for good reason. As a five-star hotel, you would expect great service, nice rooms, and amenities. This hotel has none. For a positive, I will say the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Much of the negative of the hotel has to do with the quality of the rooms, which is poor. The rooms only have a sheet - no duvet or comforter. Comfort-level of the beds is subjective, but it is objectively thin. Our room looked old and worn out. The ceiling looked like it had water damage, our toilet seat was cracked and the shower leaked water and was stained from the limestone in the water. Finally there were numerous flies and bugs. Additionally, there is no restaurant at the hotel, and no grounds to speak of, other than a small area near the jacuzzi. If you want to use the sister hotel's beach, it will cost an additional 50 Euro. This was the last stop of our honeymoon and we chose to stay at the hotel for the location in Portofino but away from the crowds, but it is not 5-star by any stretch, especially for the price of the hotel.

The staff were all fantastic and very helpful at dealing with our requests, helping us book taxis etc. The room was clean and pleasant with a nice bathroom and shower, the continental breakfast buffet was great and the views from the pool were great. The booking system for the pool meant you had a guaranteed slot but could only use it once a day. It is a shame that it costs so much money to use the beach, particularly paying $50 for two sunbeds when there's only one of you. I would happily stay again if you could use the private beach for free as a guest.

Hotel Metropole is one of the best in all of Italy! My wife and I returned for the 3rd straight year in a row (all the way from San Diego, California, U.S.) because of the incredible beauty of the hotel and manicured landscape, fitness spa for my wife, spectacular location on the Mediterranean Sea, wonderful hotel restaurant, and of course the very friendly hotel management and staff who always treats us as if family and the hotel always accommodates our request for a special nostalgic room during our stay! We stayed here for seven nights. The town of Sestri L is fantastic and well placed for visiting the Cinque Terre region. It was actually a decision between this hotel and Hotel Vis a Vis, but we chose the Miramare as it’s on the flat and easy to reach, eg no hills. I’d emailed the hotel beforehand to check if they could provide a good vegan breakfast choice (we stayed B&B). They said no problem, so long as they had three days notice to source suitable food. On this basis we decided to book. Somehow when the booking was made with my vegan request the information did not get passed to the restaurant manager. Luckily there was cereal and soya milk and fresh fruit, but no vegan spread for toast. The restaurant manager was apologetic and after three days he had sourced vegan spread, pastries and biscuits. So my advice would be, if you are vegan, make sure you email ahead again just before you leave home. The room service was excellent, all the housekeeping was superb. We knew there was a charge for the beach, but €30 per day per person was not something we wanted to pay, so we didn’t take up that option or the Spa. Can highly recommend location for travel to the train station to visit Cinque Terre, S.Margherita, Portofino, plus ferry to Porto Venere.

Very beautiful sea view hotel, very new facilities, comfortable bed, good internet speed, bars, restaurants and swimming pool, convenient transportation, many restaurants around, beach outside the hotel, walking distance to yacht dock and shops. There is parking in the hotel, but it costs 20 euros a day.

Stayed for one week. Sea view room with balcony - a must! Fantastic breakfast - nothing is too much trouble for the staff. You ask for it and they will most probably be able to make it. Beach club area is fantastic - seaside beds with access to sea as well as two infinity pools. We did not use the spa facilities. Shout out to Francesco one of the porters, he was so helpful - not just with our luggage but with restaurant recommendations as well as local things to do. And always with a lovely smile and cheery hello. Twice daily room service. Huge comfy bed. What’s not to like about this place. We would return.

We loved Vis-a-Vis. We want to move to Sestri Levante and live permanently in the Vis-a-Vis! Perfect location and view. Upgrade to a double balcony room with both balconies overlooking the bay and town. Really good restaurant and the best bartenders in the world with fabulous views. Do a Basil Martini and change your life! The VaV drive spills into a charming historic neighborhood.
