Hotel Palace Portoroz by Minor Hotels

Nice breakfast. Hotel retains some charm and pre-war grandeur. The pool and saunas are nice, as is the staff. Jackhammering (two diggers) across the street, even Sunday. Beach amenities(about a dozen spots for cabanas/dual beach loungers) not open first two days, then just a “soft open” with no service while many other places had already opened(end of May/start of June). The “beach”location is bit of an exaggeration anyhow, exposed between a busy cafe and a construction site, and across the main boulevard from the hotel. Also charged 5x more in local taxes than what the reservation specified, not a large amount compared to other cities and presumably not the hotel’s doing but info should be more accurate during booking. The rooms are comfortable and as described, if slightly dated.

We booked two rooms at this lovely property and stayed for four nights in August 2025. iMaps takes you to the front of the building, but it's easy to find the entrance by taking two left turns to the back. The rooms were spacious with stunning views of the coast. We dined at the hotel on two of the nights, in different restaurants. There is a good choice of food, though we think the lobster main course in the Sofia restaurant is far too small and we're unable to order sides to embellish it. The wine lists is excellent and there are some superb local Slovenian wines to explore. We enjoyed dining in the marina nearby in local fish restaurants where a fantastic variety of seafood is available. Drinks in the hotel bar - in the bar itself, on its pretty terrace and on the lawn under - were lovely and service was slick. There is plenty of choice at breakfast in the hotel's glorious crystal ballroom. This is managed by smart and friendly Maitre D' who greets you each day. We enjoyed our daily walk to Piran each day, which took around 45 minutes on foot. Its churches are stunning and the amazing views from the castle walls of Piran are a must-see. Two issues did occur during our stay, but we were so impressed by how the management dealt with them we regard them as quite forgotten. I would recommend this hotel warmly. It provided a very happy stop during our tour from Germany to Italy.

The hotel is interesting combination historical and new part, my room been big and with nice view, the staff were very nice and helpful, and the breakfastist excellent. I wish our trip had allowed us to stay more than two night.

A luxury hotel in the heart of Portoroz that combines both classic and modern architecture. Specious and comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast with a great variety for all dietary habits, fine dining restaurants, private beach, sports facilities and professional staff. Highly recommended.

We stayed at this hotel in Portorož for 3 nights and overall had a good experience. The hotel itself is very nice, with a great location right on the beachfront. It’s easy to get around and enjoy the area, though the beachfront right in front of the hotel can feel a bit crowded, with shops and cafes packed closely together. There was also some construction going on near the beach access, which took away a bit from the atmosphere, but we imagine it will be much nicer once that’s completed. Our room was clean and well-maintained, but felt a bit tight. One of the bathrooms was tight in size. Breakfast was very good, with a wide selection of fresh options, however the coffee could definitely be improved, it wasn't good at all. One of the highlights of the hotel is the beautiful garden and the views. That said, we were a bit disappointed that the garden is only open until 5pm. Since it gets quite hot during the day, it would have been lovely to enjoy it in the cooler evening hours. The hotel has several restaurants; we tried one and found the food good, though the service was a bit slow. On the positive side, room service was fast and efficient, and the overall service from the staff was friendly. One suggestion would be for the hotel to offer more services or activities for guests, perhaps a shuttle to Piran or suggestions for local things to do. It would really elevate the guest experience. All in all, a pleasant stay in a great location with a few areas for improvement. We’d recommend it for sure.

I have visited this hotel several times. But I noticed that the quality of the hotel is going down. For example, a poorly made bed or dirt in the bathroom. I was quite angry that at the pool I went to get water in small paper cups, the size of 0.5 dcl. No more bottles, only small paper cups. Also dirt in the pool and I found plastic inside the pool that will cause injury if I step on it. This hotel is too expensive to have shortcomings. And the staff in the hotel is even worse than last year
