Le Sirenuse

Positano|0.24km from city center
I stayed at Le Sirenuse solo for only one night leading up to a wedding in Ravello and am so glad that I did! The stay was basically flawless. An easy transfer organized by the hotel from Naples and a smooth check-in experience with Maria at the front desk kicked off the stay. I arrived before my room was ready, and Maria did a great job of reviewing my itinerary, explaining how to make the most of my limited time on-property and smoothly handing me off to various English-speaking employees before I arrived at the pool restaurant for lunch. The pool, bar and casual restaurant are the heart of the property because of their extraordinary views of Positano and the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is truly one of the best views one could desire for lunch, pool lounging, reading etc. (and with views are clear and sunny most days the property is opened between April and October). Food across the board was excellent. I had a wonderful lunch at the pool (tomato salad and club sandwich) with generous portions, a nice bread service with housemade tapanade and Le Sirenuse olive oil, an amuse bouche and very attentive staff (e.g. they offered a table in the shade as the sun shifted midway through my meal, they brought another cocktail, olives and almonds to snack on after I finished my meal). La Sponda was a wonderful experience too. Elevated food featuring local ingredients, a flexible menu, live music and beautiful views (as with everywhere on this property). The service is what really stood out in a week full of great food — I was instantly recognized and greeted when I came down the stairs for dinner, the sommelier did an amazing job of pairing the a la carte dishes I chose with local wines, and the service was warm and helpful, but never overwhelming or pushy. I was in the base room as I booked a couple of weeks before my stay at a time when the property is generally sold out. The room was very comfortable, and had a nice view (albeit limited compared to the higher room categories). There was a festival in town that night so it was wonderful listening to the sounds of Italian music, Positano and sea breezes outside of my window while lounging in the room...and thankfully the sound insulation was great when it was time for bed. I loved the take-home gift offered in the room (I won’t spoil it), and all of the thoughtful touches, local handiworks and artwork throughout the property that extended to the room. It was basically a perfect stay. The only constructive criticism I would offer is that the gym is limited in the weight equipment it offers — it would be great to get a full rack of free weights to use as the one set of adjustable dumbbells that they have was in use while I was there so I had to wait a while, and the base rack only goes up to 20kgs or so. I would love to return and stay for longer. There were plenty of activities included on offer (sunset cruise, walking tour of Positano), and the location of the property is ideal for exploring town and walki

Hotel Poseidon

Hotel Poseidon

Positano|0.05km from city center
This was my fifth visit to Positano and the Amalfi coast in forty years I first visited in 1980. To be honest very little has changed during the summer season accommodation is in short supply. The hotels though charming with wonderful terraces and lovely attentive staff are not the most comfortable in terms of sleep quality ( hard mattresses and pillows) and bathrooms with dodgy plumbing and electrics are the norm. Accommodation is limited and prices are high. The Poseidon is a typical amalfi coast hotel we paid in excess of £2000 per night so in excess of $2500US for room 16 anywhere else in the world this would have be considered excessive for a four star hotel as described within the parameters above but this the Amalfi coast at the end of May so I am afraid is fairly typical. Both the room we stayed in and the main terrace where the small pool bar and restaurant were did have an amazing view across the bay and the staff were very charming and the bar scene was delightful. I am loathe to write anything negative but feel very strongly about the bathroom situation they have a separate bath and shower but the bath/ shower dispenser gel is glued to the wall in order to get the product out of the dispenser into the bath you to have to squirt it out onto the wall tiles and then use the hand held shower attachment to literally wash it of the walls into the bath. Note to the owners anybody who can afford to pay in excess of £2000 a night is not interested in stealing super expensive toiletries let alone the very basic toiletries you provide and if you are going to go the trouble of gluing products to walls at the very least you should make sure that the nozzles are directed into the bath/ in a way that people can use them.

Hotel Villa Gabrisa

Hotel Villa Gabrisa

Positano|0.19km from city center
Best hotel stay ever!! We stayed in the Junior Suite with a HUGE balcony and small jacuzzi/plunge pool and outdoor shower! The view is absolutely beautiful!! The furnishings and decor are clean and modern, especially the beautiful modern tiled bathroom with double rain shower heads. Yet the room still has Italian charm, such as the shutters, arched doorways, olive plant and furnishings. Large closet space with minibar and refrigerator, espresso machine, ironing board, safe, beach towels. In the USA a room this nice with such a huge balcony and gorgeous view would cost a lot more! The room and view are outstanding, but what really sets this apart is the service! Claudia was so kind and responsive to all of our needs, from arranging transfers, rescheduling due to Covid, and giving us recommendations on our walk. Jada was also very welcoming and friendly to us. Also, one of the owners, Gabriel, sat with us at the Tulip bar and chatted for an hour! This kind of service is remarkable and unlike anything we have experienced before. It felt like we were staying with friends! The restaurant is delicious with great service and views also! Try the Caprese Salad, Zucchini Flowers, and Sea Bass. Also the free breakfast was great, we had Cappuccino, Espresso, fruit salad, Yogurt, Scrambled Eggs and Croissants! I highly recommend staying at this hotel! Get the Junior Suite, you will love it! One thing to know is that the location is a little far from the beach area, which we actually liked because it wasn’t in the middle of the congested tourist area, however it does mean a long walk with lots of stairs. If you have mobility issues you might have difficulty. Villa Gabrisa owns a wine shop next door which is really nice and convenient. We loved every minute of our stay and hope to visit again!! :) Thank you Claudia, Jada and Gabriel for everything!

Hotel Marincanto

Positano|0.44km from city center
We spent 4 nights at Hotel Marincanto. This trip has been booked since 2019. The staff have beyond wonderful to work with during all the travel restrictions. They never collected any money from us until August , 30 days before our arrival. Location is perfect. We had the postcard Positano view. The room was fine (not luxurious ) but with an odd color scheme. Having a pool and beach access included was HUGE! I don’t think many hotels offer this. I cannot tell you how many people tried to access our beach area ( it’s not actually on the sand but was a few steps up on a concrete slab) . Marincanto beach setup is adjacent with a private beach club. There was an attendant at the entrance explaining to people it was private. The staff and location are the real standout here. The staff scored us dinner reservations at La Sponda ( something I was not able to do in my own). The front desk staff are all amazing. We had an early morning departure so we were going to miss breakfast. They had a care package waiting for us at check out of a light snack to take with us. Our last full day in Positano was awful weather. We went to the lobby for hot chocolate. When they bought us out the hot chocolate they included complimentary cookies. Such a nice thoughtful touch. Luigi the bartender is also wonderful. Breakfast on the terrace is absolutely beautiful. The terrace (Cele) is an absolutely beautiful location. We were able to watch a wedding from our balcony. It was beautiful. I can see why this is a popular wedding spot. They even had fireworks after. We really loved our time in Positano and really glad we chose this hotel. We would not have been happy paying for beach access every day! For that alone, this hotel is worth checking out.

Hotel Villa Delle Palme in Positano

Positano|0.07km from Get Amalfi Coast
This was stop 2 of a 6-stop European honeymoon, and wow did we love this place. I had been searching for a place in Positano and happened upon this sweet B&B hotel semi-randomly. The place my parents suggested was full, as was the very expensive hotel our friends were staying at. But wow! Was this a GEM! Staff: Manuela, her aunt, son...everyone was incredible. The weather did not cooperate with us at all and it POURED our entire trip--but Manuela helped us with finding other things to do, helped coordinate a ride to dinner, and even called a sandal shop for me because I couldn't figure out how to contact them about picking up the shoes at a later time. ON TOP of that--she even walked a route and sent me a video for how to find a real bank (not one of the expensive solo ATMs that you should try to avoid). Plus she scheduled us an in room massage, and our dinner reservations. Above and beyond doesn't even being to describe the hospitality. (And her lemoncello spritz was delicious!) Accommodation: We had literally the room of my dreams. A huge terrace, double doors and enough space that we even had in-room massages. The bathroom was fine, toilet, separate bidet, and shower stall. The shower was a little tight if you're a larger person, but it was totally fine and worked for me. Location: I thought the location was FANTASTIC! They're close to the ”top” of a one-way road, and pick up place (the grotto?) which made coming in or getting picked up relatively easy. I also thought we were out of the fray of the main square and clubs...but that was close enough to walk/stroll to. I loved the view (especially when we got sun our last morning there) and wished we could've spent more time there. Food/Breakfast: Breakfast was lovely, the staff was wonderful, and we sat at the same cute table each morning, which was fabulous. We also had dinner at the place next door (owned by a family member) and it was also delicious and I believe we got a discount. Overall--this place is a gem and we cannot wait to return! My spouse and I agreed to comeback so we can do Positano without all the rain, and staying here is our plan without question! See you soon, Manuela!

Hotel L'Ancora

The jaw dropping view from our gorgeous room and the hotel’s restaurant says it all! Breakfast and dinner were wonderful…delicious and beautifully presented. The restaurant is comfortable and inviting and has a lounge area for a rest and a cocktail at the end of the day. Every staff member is extremely accommodating and friendly and can assist with any requests such as transfers to the airport, directions etc. Hotel Ancora is centrally located on a main road in town with easy access to the shops, restaurants, beach and marina, albeit many steps! Our superior sea view room was much larger than anticipated with an expansive balcony complete with table and chairs along with two chaise lounges and umbrella. A very large bathroom with beautiful blue vietre tiles also contained a jacuzzi tub with a view of the Mediterranean. Many thanks to Domenico, Lolanda, Angelica, Susie and the restaurant/bar team for making our stay so very special! We will choose Hotel Ancora when we return!

Amazing last night of our family vacation! We chose Adamo ed Eva for its view and it’s gluten-free options for our daughter with a severe allergy. We could not have been happier. Even with our 5 month old grandson in a stroller, the staff was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, especially our head server Carlo who took care of our family from start to finish! The views from the restaurant are gorgeous and well worth the many, many steps to climb from the marina (we were not staying in Positano). The food?? Best meal we had all vacation-and our daughter was thrilled to have so many delicious gluten free options. Would absolutely recommend.
Covo Dei Saraceni

We had a lovely stay at Covo dei Saraceni - the staff was so helpful and our room was amazing, with a gorgeous water view. Our room was very large with a balcony which we enjoyed several times a day. We ate breakfast at the hotel every day and it was ample and delicious. We enjoyed the fresh juices, pastries, salad, meats and cheeses. One of our favorites was the carrot cake! We also ate in the dining room several times and again, terrific service, nice wine list and delicious food. Would highly recommend for a restful stay in Positano.
