Casa Angelina

Praiano|1.54km from The Footpath of the Gods
I’m scared to write this review as I’m worried about turning more people on to this outrageously beautiful, shockingly luxurious, and wildly attentive hidden jewel (not a gem, a diamond to be honest) in Amalfi. First of all - any visitor to the Amalfi coast needs to know; it can be stressful. Crowds, cars, weather, boats, the works - all need to be taken into account. However, at Casa Angelina; we rarely ever felt like leaving. First, the decor and design - modern, clean, beautiful, not a single thing out of place or off, nothing offensive - like a contemporary design museum where everything fits in. My husband and I stayed for two nights and had a gorgeous corner suite. Everything was brand new, and nice tech touches; rare in Europe. They had Apple TV and in-room iPads, for example. Everything was easy to understand and work. The views from this hotel are indescribable - human vision can barely comprehend the scenes you’ll be soaking in from your bed, the couch, the lobby, the terrace, etc. The staff: incredible. Made me feel like family. Spent time talking to you, getting to know you, and making recommendations. I witnessed quite a number of times the staff dealing with “fussy” customers with grace. Every team member went out of their way for you, and honestly I can’t wait to be with them again soon. The Food: Chef Leopoldo is a master. From the breakfast (I won’t spoil it here but it’s not your typical luxury hotel buffet. I stayed at 3 hotels in Amalfi and this was hands down the best) to the other on-property dining moment (Chef Leopoldo introduced me and my husband to a special type of local squid, and then showed us videos of how he personally went to fish it the night before) - it was nothing short of magic. My husband and I love “infiltrating the locals” and Praiano is good for that. A short 5 minute walk from the hotel and you’re sitting a the town cafe sipping espresso with locals and eating 10 euro pizzas. So cute. The rest of the hotel experience: We stayed fit with morning Pilates (just wait til you see where they hold it in the garden…), enjoyed the lemon tree pool, and just generally did what you should be doing on holiday - relaxing. Seriously…can’t recommend this place enough. We ran into guests who were lucky enough to be spending a full two weeks on property, and they looked like they’d just gotten work done: a glow from within and a smile permanently on their face. Be sure to book it with Leading Hotels of the World’s loyalty program Leaders Club. They have a lot of hotels in the country and give great perks! Big kisses to the team at Casa Angelina, we can’t wait to be back. Michael and Ramy

Il San Pietro di Positano

Laurito Positano|2.49km from The Footpath of the Gods
As so many have observed in trying to describe this magical, iconic place, there simply is none other like the endlessly beautiful Hotel Il San Pietro. In my experience visiting over the decades, each time becomes better than the last, and there aren't enough superlatives in any language to describe how consistent it remains in the extraordinary care, supreme service, kindness and sincere warmth offered to its visitors/guests by the incredible team who make this slice of heaven on earth what it is to me. The first time I ever visited this beyond special place was nearly 37 years ago, and I remember it vividly because it had such an immediate impact. I recall entering the elevator, descending down and then when the doors opened, I knew I'd just become one of the luckiest humans on earth. Since that day, I've attempted over and over to describe to friends and family how this amazing place manages every time to make you feel as if you've arrived home and are truly part of the family - except that this home and family are in a piece of paradise! Fortunately, I've been able to return several times over the decades and was there most recently this year. So, I want to thank from the bottom of my heart the AMAZING team of the hotel who are always genuinely warm and welcoming. There's Andrea Zana, of course, who couldn't possibly be more of a professional's professional and an incredibly kind human being. He seems to manage it all as would the director of a grand symphony orchestra or perfectly choreographed ballet, except he does it with such humility, nuance and subtlety that it's easy to forget there's someone behind the scenes keeping it all operating as smoothly as silk. He makes it appear so effortless and yet, to provide this caliber of world-class services, you know that the work behind the scenes is endless and attention to every detail is without fail. Then there's the magnificent Giuseppe Caso, who's been the hotel's quintessential concierge for as long as I can remember; the super kind Giuseppe Bonito in reservations; the lovely Cristina at reception, the amazing Sal, Juliano at Zass, an angel whose service was something about which to write a book on how 5-star service should be achieved. Seriously, he treated me and my friends as if we were all actual queens! Then there's the fantastic Luigi, Marialuisa, Sal, Ciro, and on and on. In other words, I simply can't say enough wonderful things about the people who make Il San Pietro what it is - and do so with such warmth, professionalism, and humility, that it absolutely makes one feel as if YOU are part of the family. Soooo, there you have my view and review of this extraordinary magical place that is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places on this earth, and the incredible team of people who make it what it is. I remain eternally grateful for it all, and CAN'T WAIT to return next year!!!

Hotel L'Ancora

We spent 3 nights here for our honeymoon. Great location with a great view of Positano and the gulf. The staff was accommodating to all of our needs during our stay. Bedrooms were keep clean- great job by the housekeepers. Continental breakfast was a nice touch with another great view that the bite has to offer. Once we were able to understand the geographical layout of Positano it was easy to get around. There claims to be an affiliation with Covo Dei Saraceni, which does not seem to be the case. The gentleman at the front was extremely rude when we asked to tour the hotel and see the pool area.

Amazing last night of our family vacation! We chose Adamo ed Eva for its view and it’s gluten-free options for our daughter with a severe allergy. We could not have been happier. Even with our 5 month old grandson in a stroller, the staff was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, especially our head server Carlo who took care of our family from start to finish! The views from the restaurant are gorgeous and well worth the many, many steps to climb from the marina (we were not staying in Positano). The food?? Best meal we had all vacation-and our daughter was thrilled to have so many delicious gluten free options. Would absolutely recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Covo dei Saraceni - the staff was so helpful and our room was amazing, with a gorgeous water view. Our room was very large with a balcony which we enjoyed several times a day. We ate breakfast at the hotel every day and it was ample and delicious. We enjoyed the fresh juices, pastries, salad, meats and cheeses. One of our favorites was the carrot cake! We also ate in the dining room several times and again, terrific service, nice wine list and delicious food. Would highly recommend for a restful stay in Positano.

Exceptional location. Truly beautiful. Terraces sloping down to the sea, well-kept, with flowers and plantations of lemons, oranges and mandarins. Very kind staff ready to satisfy our requests. Clean rooms, with a well-equipped outdoor area where you can admire a breathtaking panorama ... The view of Positano is very suggestive and the town can be reached easily on foot from the road ... all excellent ... a must-try stay

At the end of our stay, I asked the receptionist - How is this only a 3 star hotel? We got the sea view room. Do yourself a favour and just get the sea view room. Lost for words how amazing it was, the view is amazing. Best view of Positano (maybe with the exception of the view from the water). The receptionist and other hotel staff were the nicest italians Ive come across on our stay. Lovely service. The value for money is fantastic. Breakfast good. Aircon was amazing, nothing better then getting back to ur room in summer and it’s nice and cold. Only issue is that they don’t have a lift - but that’s everywhere in Positano (they said they are trying to put one in). Get one of those little cars that take ur bags for you when you arrive (Don’t make the same mistake we did and try carry them up). They helped us carry our bags up the stairs and put them in our rooms while we checked in. Can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.
Villa la Tartana

Excellent stay at Villa La Tartana. Family run small hotel with yummy breakfast included. Perfect croissants, cappuccinos, fresh OJ, and cold cuts were our faves. But they make eggs to order also! Our room was spotless with a very comfortable bed and lovely terrace for gorgeous views all day to take in the Positano port activities. Very close to the beach and delightful restaurants. Perfect if you enjoy swimming in the Tyrrhenian Sea. We had a room on the top floor which meant climbing a few flights of stairs but Alfonso the wonderful concierge helped us with our luggage. He also helped us book travel to and from with the local car services and gave us tips for local excursions. Sylvia the owner gave us great restaurant recommendations and always cheerful kind words. The entire staff was very hardworking and friendly which made our stay special. This hotel is positioned well for visiting the beach often and taking tours to other islands as well. We hope to be lucky enough to get to stay there again!
