Povoa de Varzim Hotels with Airport pickup service

Stayed here for a week with Newmarket Holidays. Room was good with excellent bathroom and a balcony and view of the sea. It is a large hotel, rather ugly on the outside, surrounded by concrete tower blocks of flats. Although on the beach it is a good 30 minutes walk to the harbour and metro. Breakfast and dinner were buffet style and with many tour parties staying there dinner in particular was not a pleasant experience. The food was actually quite good and there was never a shortage. Staff were pleasant and friendly although rushed off their feet to take drinks orders. It was conveniently located for our tour trips but for the two free days it was a problem. We took a taxi to the metro both ways. Porto, Braga, Santiago are great places to visit and the Portuguese people are very welcoming. Overall we fealt disappointed by the hotel although we enjoyed visiting this part of Portugal.

I don't know how much those who have made a negative review of the hotel paid, or how many hotels they have stayed in, but for less than fifty euros and seventy-four in high season, it is much more than good, including breakfast. Breakfast, with everything you want, (there are no waiters controlling what you take), from: croissants, bread rolls, freshly made toast, ham (not the best true), cheese, butter, jam, yogurts, jellies, cocoa , coffee , infusions , cereals , chocolate and corn flakes , it 's pretty good . If you take advantage of it well, you may not have to eat anything until the afternoon. The fruit that I have read, seems to me something not expected for what you pay. Everything is very tight and the fruit goes bad if it is not consumed soon. This aims to be a lucrative business and if you eat well and only with breakfast, you eat ten euros each, run a hotel, with its many expenses for 30 euros a room and earn money on top. The treatment is excellent, it is seen that there is a lot of staff, sometimes two at the reception, and always someone in the corridors. The rooms are small but sufficient. Everything very clean, even the bathroom. The location is excellent, a hundred meters from the beach and in the center at the same time. The decoration is old but it gives it a certain cozy air. In short, good experience, and pleasant stay. I recommend it.

Do not get offended by the ****** next door. Rather by large tour groups that sometimes flood the Grand Hotel. At other times, this is the place to be in Povoa. From Porto airport you take the metro to Povoa, from the terminus it is an easy 10 minutes walk. No taxi needed. Rooms are nice, those with sea view are great. Only few, however, have a balcony. Breakfast is very good, including some local food. But again: Go before the tour groups, or after they have left.

Stayed here for one night while walking the Camino from Porto. Situated about 10 minutes walk from the beach in a very quiet area. The hotel is absolutely spotless throughout. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff were especially friendly. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Highly recommended.

The stay was beautiful and pleasant. The location is good and the beach or restaurants are well accessible from the hotel. The staff was nice and friendly. Rooms and bathroom were large and clean. The breakfast room was a little smaller, but there was still enough room.

A lot of noise, from traffic to night, you still don't sleep or rest. The hotel is very good. They must rectify that, otherwise it is a nightmare.

Excellent hotel overlooking the Ave river, exceptional location just outside Vila do Conde very quiet. Comfortable beds with many pillows among the amenities bathrobe slippers and towel to go to the indoor pool unfortunately in this period of Covid-19 it is not possible to access the sauna and other spa treatments. Good breakfast but poor choices at this time. Friendly and helpful staff

Stated here as a solo traveller when walking the Camino Portuguese. Absolutely beautiful hotel, lovely spa, pool and restaurant. Beds are so comfortable with a choice of pillows. Nice fruit and chocolate in your room on arrival. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend a stay here.
