The location is good. From the Paplov Metro Station, there are many trams at the door. The facilities are new and stylish in design, and the furniture is IKEA. There is a terrace, the price is high. The only problem is that the water flow in the shower is a little small and the heating in the bathroom is not hot.

I stayed here for 3 weeks in May & June of 2019. It was the first righteous vacation I had taken for 45 years, when I was 13 years old (yes, it's possible for a 13 year old to go on an extended vacation with considerable autonomy). I've developed additional expectations based on travels in the intervening years, and this place exceeded all of them, by far. First up - it's not cheap. It's also better than you can get for the money anywhere else in Prague. I've rebooked for 2 weeks in 2020, and I looked at a LOT of other hotels before I did so. It ”only” took 8 or 9 hours to realize that everyplace else I looked at for which the room was comparable, actually cost a fair amount more. They've hit a sweet spot. Also, it's not a 5-star hotel that will jump thru hoops to get you anything you desire at any hour of the day - Prague (by its nature) doesn't work that way, and they're not faking it. This is Prague, and Mamaison Belgicka is in a neighborhood well off the one-block-wide tourist trail a couple miles north (which is a beautiful Hellscape once the hordes have woken up). What I got in return was an amazing variety of restaurants within trivial walking distance, a lovely, laid back neighborhood, and incredible access to the best public transportation on Earth (not exaggerating on the last bit, not even a tiny amount). My apartment was much better equipped than I expected - the kitchen, particularly. I still haven't figured out how to get decaf coffee at a grocery store, but when I've mastered that (and health care post-retirement), I could live here. In the interim, there are workarounds (Costa Coffee is 4 blocks away). The separate WC was a very nice touch. While the decor might not be '2019' current, it was certainly fresh enough in 2016. Decor is not dated (never mind my contextual dating of it), this an attractive place - the pictures don't lie. At first glance, the bedding looked like it might not be comfortable. First glance was wrong - I sunk into it every night, pretty sure my back was in much better shape when I left than when I arrived. Compared to my expectations, the apartment was HUGE. They published a square-meter spec for the category of room I reserved, and my jaw dropped when I opened the door. I didn't have a room - I had an expanse. One that in 3 weeks I never managed to fill. Have you ever checked into a hotel knowing that your room was an exact mirror image of the next room? And that there were dozens - if not hundreds - of identical rooms in the same hotel? This is not that hotel. Every room is unique - I forget how many rooms appeared on the fire escape chart for my floor, but I distinctly remember that no two were even remotely the same. My room was approximately perfect, and I requested it again for 2020 (no, I'm not going to tell you the room number, I want to return to it in 2021, and so on, and I want it to be available in advance). Not enough could be said about the food & drink options in the immediate neig

Advantages: Quiet and convenient transportation in the city. Friendly staff. There are coin-operated washing machines around the hotel, Korean market, very delicious Korean restaurants and Pho shops. Breakfast is easy to eat in the building next door, but it's good Disadvantages: The shower water pressure is very weak. The kitchen is so weak that it is almost impossible to cook. Kitchen vents, but not ventilated. Five-star stone bed.

We visited Prague recently as a family, staying in the Chill Apartments, Prague 2. The rooms are quite well sized, equipped with an electric oven, a stove, a fridge, a kettle and a microwave. We arrived outside of reception manned hours but the online information supplied by Kristian and David made it easy to obtain our room and access keys. The location of these apartments make it easy to reach both the new town and old town areas, also you have many dining/ drinking areas in close proximity. There is a Tesco Express (open till late), which is about a 5-7 minute walking distance from the accommodation. Note this is an “Express” – though it opens till late and stocks most essentials. There is a Tesco Hypermarket (fairly large and stocking a good range of items) no more than about a 15 minute walk away, heading towards the old town area – but I have to report that we felt the customer service there was substandard – my opinion only… Alternatively, there are at least 3 Albert stores within easy walking distance, the customer service in those we used were good. I’d just like to comment on a couple of places we ate at that left a good impression: firstly, I would like to thank Josef from Bad Jeff’s Barbeque (the food and service there was excellent, probably the best in both categories). This is a highly popular eating establishment – you’d be wise to pre book a table as we did. The second place, again highly popular, was the Hard Rock Café, found in the old town area (probably about a 20 minute walk away). The food and customer service we got was impressive. I have visited a few (worldwide) in my time but I felt the décor on show in Prague surpassed other HRCs that I’ve visited (again, in my opinion). The city hosts many iconic views, predominantly in the Old Town; the famous Charles Bridge should be visited along with the equally famous Lennon Wall. Scattered around the city (old and new) are amazing must see decorative churches – some are simply breath-taking inside. If you like your WW2 history, the Kostel SV Cyrila A Metodeje ( Prague 2) is definitely worth a visit – the museum in the crypt area tells a fascinating account of an instrumental period in Czech history. I would also like to mention the excellent customer service we received at the Lobkowicz Palace Museum – I would rate this museum as a must see while in Prague. We were fortunate enough to meet the proprietor of this museum who gave us a fascinating account of its history and place in Prague heritage. Housing impressive collections of musical instruments (including historical original musical manuscripts), family artworks, armoury and weapons, my family and I found this museum very impressive and the entry prices (along with translation gear included) were very reasonable. Additionally if you’re a fan of classical music, there are various venues (mainly around the Old Town area) that you will find interesting- Vivaldi’s Four Seasons being quite popular (amongst others).
