Michie House in College Hill

Good stay with decent location and cleanliness. But took 3 hrs to check in and there is no staff on-site.

I should have read the reviews before booking this. I arrived on 10/21 and there was no sign outside and no street number. I found a doorway that looked possible, and rang the buzzer but no answer. Fortunately, a young man came up the steps from the sidewalk and said that in order to get in I should have gotten an email with instructions, which I had not received. He let me in with him, and there was a dismal flight of stairs. There was, however, no staff at all on the premises. He gave me a phone number, and I was able to speak with a man who said I had to have the instructions in the email. He tried sending me emails and texts, and finally I was able to get the text. He did assign me a room and give me the passcodes to the room door and the downstairs entry door. When I checked the room, it was obvious that the sheets had not been changed from the previous user, since there were hairs and dirt on them. I called him back and he offered me another room - same, only worse. I refused to stay, and insisted on a refund, which I have not yet received [they said it would take 7 to 10 business days]. Disgusting!

Bad experience. There are no blankets provided and the windows could not be closed. It was 40 degrees at night and Michie House refused to send anyone to close the window, thus we could not sleep at all. This is not a habitable lodging and needs to be inspected for health and safety ASAP.

The staff are excelent very patient and communicative. However the room itself had an amonia/armpit smell and mysterious white trail stains leading to the bed. Also the room looked fine it was mostly the smell that wasnt ok with us so we had to leave. Then yes we did ask staff for a smelling spray but even that wasnt enough to cover the very bad smell and we had to leave early.
