Providencia neighbourhood is a good location if you prefer more comfort and safety. Streets are wider and often treelined, modern shopping centers and good infrastructure. Clean. Parque Metropolitano is not too far away. The modern style hostel is on a quiet side street. It has good facilities such as the hot showers and a well equipped kitchen. WiFi worked well, though a bit slow in the room and sometimes intermittent. The place is kept clean and well maintained. Staff (including volunteers) is friendly and helpful. Foreigners are exempt from tax (VAT), but when using a card have to pay it anyway. "You can get it back at the airport." The only alternative is to pay with cash. Bunk frames are not stable, meaning any turn of a neighbour may wake you up. Having a reservation does not mean, you have a right to stay! One morning I was told to either pay for a more expensive room or leave! Eventually the issue was solved, but the uncertainty it caused made me book another hostel. Keep in mind there is no 24/7 staff attendance.
