Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort & Spa- All Inclusive

The resort appears to be older but my room had signs of being renovated to be modern with an updated bathroom. The resort is clean with staff sweeping, collecting used drink cups, etc. Housekeeping did a great job keeping my room cleaned daily. The staff at the restaurants and pool were friendly. I booked my reservation at the resort using ******* in order to join friends who were also staying at the resort. At the time of my booking, I was not made aware of the different tier reservations (VIP, etc.). My friends checked in two days before me and had the upgraded VIP booking. When I checked in, I was unaware of the tier bookings and requested to have the same tier booking as my friends so that I can access the VIP pool, restaurants, etc. but was denied the request by the front desk as there was no room available to match my friends booking tiers. This impacted my time spent with friends at the resort considering I could not join them in the areas they were allowed to be in. I would suggest including the tier information at the time of booking to avoid confusion when traveling with large groups who have separate bookings. Additionally, most of the reservation required restaurants were booked for 3 days after my arrival which left me with limited dinner options during my 4 night stay. Overall, the rate that I paid for my stay was comparable to my experience.

You had to make reservations for certain restaurants as not all are open all the time. The restaurant schedule is confusing. Some people were getting a tour and things explained to them but we got nothing explained to us about the property. It was check in and nothing. Also note there’s different levels of service you get with the color of your band. Loved though that you don’t have to wake up at 7am to find seats at the beach and it was more relaxing vs wild with kids.

Great property! As a vegetarian, food became a concern. The resort though is accommodating.

Rooms were cleaned daily, staff was super accommodating, pools were fantastic & very clean! The massage in the spa was to die for!

This resort does NOT welcome ******* customers! This resort classifies ******* members by providing a bright yellow bracelets to ******* members! Once emplyees sees the bright yellow bracelets they ignored us and give priority to their members! They also give ******* members ripped dirty beach towels, corner rooms with stained floors , mold in the showers, no drawers in bedroom, as they give priority to members when it comes to restaurant reservations, ******* members dont get the chance to eat at their various restaurants because they are always booked according to the resort. The resort is high on requesting tips for everything.if ypu dont tip dont expect to get drinks on time, angel at the pool bar refused to add chili powder to one of my drinks but to members of the resort it was okay ! I do not recommended this hotel to anyone safe your money for a better more welcoming resort who really care about their customers as a whole including ******* members ! Avoid feeling like an outcast from the treatment from Employees starting with people at the reception!!

Overall everything was good, The buffet and the al la carte were excellent. Some minor issues we had were; it was difficult finding a place to get American currency at a fair exchange, would recommend getting any money exchanged before trip. The beach access from the resort was limited, but alright for us. Might not be as great for a young family wanting to spend their time on the beach. Not all the entertainment was family oriented. The music by the pool was quite loud. They were catering more to the 20-30 age group.

Property itself was nice but dated. Looks like they completed a make over but failed to add additional charging outlets in the rooms. The electrical outlet that were located were being used by lamps. outlets and switches were either falling apart or simply broken. Property did not have a children's swimming pool area per sea. It's an older property but very well maintained. Food was to be desired I would give the food a poor rating with very limited choices to make despite it being a buffet style. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The resort is extremely noisy: construction and loud music trying to mask the construction. There is not one quiet spot in the entire resort. There are not enough chairs by the pools so we did not have a place to sit after swimming. the view from the beach is construction concrete slaps. There is an extremely aggressive membership sales team that is relentless and will stop to lying and manipulation to make a sale.

Great trip, bar hours are a bit odd, 11-8pm. Great experience overall. I loved being able to snorkel righ at the resort 😍. Only wish would be free shuttle to and from the airport.
