Galapagos Cottages

First off, Ximena was so welcoming and helpful with anything we needed. When we arrived, we were the only ones staying there due to the pandemonium from what was going on in Ecuador at the beginning of the year (just an fyi, the media blew that up into the panic it was but shouldn't have been). It was a great unique place to stay. We stayed in two cottages with our group and that gave us a nice amount of space to enjoy our surroundings. It's kind of on the edge of town, though it's near the path that goes to Tortuga beach (which we never made it to this time), but walking into town only took like 5-10 minutes so not a big deal. I highly recommend staying here.

We got so lucky choosing this quiet place next to the trail to Tortuga Bay! Two-story accommodation, warm wood featured throughout, two bathrooms with showers, a fully-equipped kitchen with filtered water, laundry service was great, walking distance to reasonably priced tour operators, a spa for massage/nails/waxing, multiple restaurants including Lo&Lo and Galapagos Deli, and downtown either by staying on Charles Binford the whole way, or turning right on Baltras to do the entirety of Charles Darwin St. The price was very reasonable, Ximena was knowledgeable, warm, and welcoming (the refrigerator was already pre-stocked with basics), and arranged for airport transportation. I’m so glad I didn’t waste a fortune staying in a less-charming, tiny room without all these beautiful wood features somewhere else!

Each cottage has a living room, full kitchen, with breakfast supplied, 2 bathrooms and a bedroom on the second floor with great cross breezes, and AC. There are 4 houses, on the corners of the courtyard. Lots of outdoor space. One cottage has a 3rd floor with a second bedroom. Day bed and trundle also available in the living room. Ximena could not be more welcoming or helpful. Short stroll to downtown. Quiet. I rarely write reviews, but this place was outstanding. The pool and surrounding areas are terrific.

If we could give above 5 stars to the Galapagos Cottages we would. Incredibly comfortable place to stay, close to everything and wonderful people, especially the hostess Ximena. As soon as we got there, everything was special. They go out their way to make you feel at home and very helpful in recommending places to eat, things to see and where to go. We loved our time at the Galapagos Cottages and highly recommend them to anyone visiting Puerto Ayora. We stayed 7 days and could have stayed longer. Galapagos Cottages and Ximena are very special.
