After a day of travel we pulled up in a cab and was told by an employee that our reservation had been moved to another hotel. Huh? Sounds the same in English and Spanish. I explained that our reservation was at this hotel and showed her the confirmation from Holiday Inn. Asked to see the manager who quickly dodged from behind the counter and through a door. Hm***h. Sounds the same in both English and Spanish. She showed herself after a 5 minute wait. I explained the problem, showed her the confirmation and was told that this hotel was booked. Yes, but I had a confirmation number. She was going to phone for a shuttle to take us to another hotel. Yes, but our reservation was for this hotel and our luggage was in a taxi outside and he wanted to go get more fares, not watch me make hand signs that meant “in a minute”. So my wife and I hopped in our waiting cab and off we went to another … Holiday Inn, who knew? It was about 750 meters from the first one. If only the manager had told me that she was sending us to a new Holiday Inn to balance the reservations or the work load, or redistribute the reservations to make the new hotel look good to management or something. Very unexpected and unnecessary. By the way, the new hotel is very nice and the staff courteous and helpful. The manager, not so much.
