Almar Resort Luxury LGBT Beach Front Experience

I don't usually post negative comments, but if this will help another traveler make an informed choice, I thought I'd let you know a couple of things. First, I booked a junior suite with an ocean view. The rooms are very nice and spacious. However, our ocean view was actually of telephone poles and wires and the thatched roof of the club across the alley. I admit, the ocean was in view, beyond these obstacles. Our original room was on the 4th floor and the first night our roof sprung a fast leak due to the downpour outside. It was mostly cleaned up and we were told to let the front desk know in the morning that we needed to move rooms. I would have thought that due to the inconvenience of having to re-pack everything, that they would have given us an upgraded room. Instead, they gave us a junior ocean view suite on the 3rd floor with a closer view of the wires and rooftop. This room also had only one patio chair so even if we wanted to sit out on the patio, we wouldn't have been able to together. The resort itself has nice amenities.

Francisco saved our lives after collecting our forgotten wallet near the pool. He is a great asset to Almar - he really provided great service to every guest!

Other than offensively loud jungle-type music (monotonous and repetitive beats, very few with any singing), this hotel was excellent. The staff said the loud music from approx. 4-10pm daily. was because it was a holiday week Our room was extremely comfortable with a gorgeous view from our balcony The entire staff was extremely helpful and polite The breakfast offerings were large and tasty. as were the lunch & dinner experiences We hope to rerun to beautiful Puerto Vallarta on a non holiday period and again stay at the Almar Sea

Rude terrible staff, have to listen to a sales pitch before you can even check-in, and outright predatory lying by staff as they try and blatently double bill you. The property has also been undergoing construction for at least 5 years with constant noise and drilling while the property's attitude seems to be "deal with it."

Solid 3-stars! We stayed here for a week in Mar 2026 in the Jr. Suite - the room was really nice, spacious, and clean. Housekeeping services were good! Check-in process was long and terrible! The staff was trying to upsell all sorts of deals/packages when all we wanted was the key to our room so we could get some rest. From the check-in desk, we were directed to the Concierge desk, where more people tried to sell us more things. Very frustrating! Would have appreciated these interactions a day or two later... The pools are great, cocktails are average (we had a bee in one of our drinks and the staff was still trying to charge us), and the food is good. If you're staying here, find your rhythm with the staff and set a daily budget to avoid huge bills.

Everything was very good, the staff very friendly and helpful. The resort was very nice and the outdoors beautiful

I had requested a room without connecting doors. Last time I stayed in one. The property was not full but the front desk and their manager were unwilling to help and made excuses. At these prices they need to accommodate users' requests when a note was made to this reservation 4 months in advance.

We loved it so much we bought a time share of sorts great deal. Can’t wait to come back. Special thanks to Andrea and Leo.

The staff were not very helpful. And there were many extra charges that I didn’t get back even though the staff said we would get our money back after checking out. (A deposit fee on top of a reservation fee)
