TUI and HOTEL EXCELLENCE PUNTA On arrival we were allocated a room that had not been adequately cleaned and had obviously not been used for some time. Smelt very damp and musty. The hotel was unable to provide an alternative for nearly twenty four hours and then not in the club excellence area. Throughout the complex there was constant loud music thumping out. Definitely not 5 star. Hardly conducive to a relaxing, romantic atmosphere. The gym, one of the best I have encountered in a hotel, had permanent “Techno” music thumping out from the moment it opened until it closed and did not turn the level down when asked. Was told the music came from 'Mexico'!!!!! On arrival at Excellence Club reception we were informed that the dress codes we had been advised to comply with had been discarded in favour of a “come as you are” attitude. The two notable exceptions were the Chez Isabella and the Excellence club Magna restaurant. The Kitchen restaurant, a buffet style affair, provided good basic food and service, everywhere else most of the food was distinctly ordinary, not very hot and hardly befitting a five star establishment. Not 5 star A la carte. It was unfortunate that the Kitchen was not open in the evening , I would have eaten there on a regular basis. On several occasions I left meals uneaten because the standard was so poor. The Coffee Shop was excellent and an inspired addition to the complex with charming, helpful and cheerful staff. Throughout the complex there seemed to be a will to inspire a “party” atmosphere with copious amounts of alcohol, cocktails and loud music. I heard one disgruntled American guest describe it as “a cross between Spring Break and a frat party.” They had a point! We largely avoided the evening entertainment because of the deafening volume it was delivered at. Not 5 star service. The staff fell into two distinct groups. The junior level staff were almost entirely cheerful, helpful and keen to please or assist. Middle management appeared to exist to deflect complaints and ignore requests whilst appearing charming and helpful. Room servicing. The turn down service was infrequent and patchy. The mini bar was due to be replenished daily. Despite only drinking soft drinks from the mini bar we often had to request replenishment as it had not happened for several days. Bar service, the staff were excellent, helpful and cheerful but there were often occasions when particular drinks were not available. A particular dislike of mine, and I appreciate that it may be a personal foible, is I was often served drinks in plastic glasses, despite being nowhere near a pool area. As guests from Europe I gained the distinct impression that we were in a minority and the aim was to cater for the American market, which is a shame because they took our money readily enough. I went with my two good friends on our yearly girls trip, and then my mom arrived for her bday. We all loved how beautiful and calm the beach was and all the amenities but we thought the food and drink was not on par with other Secrets or All inclusive hotels we have stayed in. I have stayed at Secrets the Vine Cancun 3 times, Hyatt Zilara Punta Cana, and Hard Rock Los Cabos. Also thought that during the day the pool area was vary boring except during the activities (water aerobics, volleyball, zumba) but it would be cool to have a DJ or louder more fun music playing. It was also very hard to find shade at the pool and the beach, wish there were more chairs with umbrellas. The night entertainment was great at Desires and at the lobby especially the Dj and bands that played more upbeat dancing music, and Black Coffee got everyone to dance and was such a great vibe, we love him. Our concierge/butler - Osvaldy Guerrero Cedano is a true Gem, the best concierge/butler I've ever had. He was super responsive and helped us out at all times. It was my mom's bday and he had the room decorated with cake and Champagne and she loved it. He totally made her day more special. Ultimately I thought that this Secrets was more for couples where most Adults only resorts are a bit more fun and have more of a variety of people of all ages, for example girls trip, bachelorette, bachelor, wedding party. it seemed way more focused for couples and we all felt a bit out of a place. Lastly our room smelled like mold, I wish we had complained and had it changed it because on the last day our Concierge/Butler allowed us to checkout late and then enjoy the resort and use a room just to shower before leaving for our late flight. The room that we used the shower in was the same size but no smell of mold. The service was amazing though, all employees were super nice, kind, helpful and smily they made the atmosphere so great! !!! FINGER WEG BESONDERS FÜR TOURISTEN AUS EUROPA !!! Ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass ich sehr enttäuscht bin vom Hotel und der Umgebung hier. So hätten wir uns unseren Urlaub nicht vorgestellt. Aber zuerst zu den positiven Punkten: Positiv war: - Sauberkeit der Zimmer 7/10 - Hilfsbereitschaft des Personals 9/10 - Sauberkeit Pool 8/10 - Qualität und Angebot des Essens 7/10 Negativ war: Strand und Meer 1/10 Ein Grund warum Menschen dieser Welt die dominikanische Republik bereisen sind bestimmt die traumhaften Strände. Leider war dem überhaupt nicht so. Die vom Hotel zur Verfügung gestellten Strände waren komplett zugemüllt, voll mit Seegras und im Wasser konnte man kaum schwimmen vor lauter Seegras. Nebst dem, dass dies total ekelhaft war, sehe ich als Rettungsschwimmer auch eine Gefahr in solchem Gewässer überhaupt zu baden da die Bewegungsfreiheit stark eingeschränkt ist. Als wir das Management des Hotels darauf aufmerksam machten, sagten sie uns dass es Ihnen leid tut aber sie nichts dagegen tun können. Ich finde das eine Lüge da das Arbeitspersonal den Strand reinigen hätte können. Für uns war der Strand, sowie das Meer völlig unzumutbar. Personal und Management 3/10 Sehr freundlich, aber keiner spricht auch nur 1 Wort Deutsch. Bei einem 5 Sterne Standard ist eine Dienstleistung, die man in Anspruch nehmen darf. Ich empfand das Personal leider auch durchgehend schlecht gelaunt, bis auf einige wenige. Trotz zahlreicher versuche mit dem Management über die Missstände zu sprechen, wurden wir immer dreist abgewimmelt und darauf verwiesen zu warten. So verbrachte ich schlussendlich 4 Stunden meines Urlaubs in der Hotellobby. Die Beschwerden wurden belächelt aber nichts passierte. Eine weitere Respektlosigkeit dieses Hotels. Aktivitäten vom Hotel aus 2/10 Massentourismusattraktionen auf völlig veralteten, Sicherheitsriskanten, maximal umweltunfreundlichen und überteuerten Touren. So kann man das Angebot rund ums Hotel beschreiben. Leider bietet das Hotel von sich aus nur Tourenan die doppelt so teuer sind wie im Internet zu finden, über die Qualität möchte ich wirklich nichts mehr sagen, ausser unterste Schublade. Es gibt keine Möglichkeiten zu tauchen, Kitesurfen, Wakeboarden oder anderer Extremsportarten. Das Undercover Kinderhotel Leider wird man auch beim Hotel verarscht. Das Hotel teilt sich nämlich das Grundstück mit Nickelodeon. Dies führt dazu, dass es sehr viele Kinder hat und sehr viele Kinderattraktionen. Ich habe nichts gegen Kinder aber als Geschäftsmann möchte man einfach seine Ruhe in den Ferien geniessen und nicht permanent irgendwelchen Clowns, Kinderlieder, Hüpfburgen, Urin in den Pools und dem Geschrei ausgesetzt sein. Mittouristen im Hotel Ein weiterer Punkt war dass ich das Gefühl hatte der einzige Europäer zu sein. Alle sprachen Spanisch. Aus Europa schien tatsächlich gar niemand zu kommen. Wir waren auch die einzigen hellhäutigen. Ich habe da absolut nicht dagegen aber etwas komisch war das schon. Fazit L

The resort is absolutely beautiful, well kept and an amazing Sanctuary, just what we were looking for. We stayed in the castle and JT took great care of us all week. He was absolutely amazing, helpful, full of great info on what to do and helping set up reservations. He is a great model of excellent service, care and professionalism of going above and beyond. Even when we had an issue being given the wrong room, an ocean view room instead of the oceanfront room we paid for. JT was very helpful and supportive and aided us in getting this corrected. The next day we were in the correct room thankfully. For the rest of our stay we encountered great people like Omar at the steakhouse who on our anniversary was so attentive and added to our romantic dinner experience. This was a wonderful 20th Anniversary celebration for us, it was so much more than we imagined it would be. Check out our beautiful oceanfront view, it was exquisite!

What an EXCELLENT trip! We loved our 7 day stay at Excellence El Carmen. We went just the two of us for my birthday! A few highlights: 1. The most friendly waitstaff ever 2. Lovely rooms (we had a basic room but was still nice) 3. The gym was one of the nicest hotel gyms I’ve ever seen 4. I felt very safe at all times 5. Loved the pool scene - not too crazy/party like but def fun and friendly! A few not so great things: 1. I had some tummy troubles on our second day there - not sure how but it wasn’t pleasant. 2. The food was just okay. Not horrible. Not wonderful. Just ok. A few good meals but overall meh food. 3. Our room was right above the nightly entertainment so it was a bit loud after we went to bed but not awful. All in all, we had a lovely stay! Marco in the piano bar was AWESOME! Definitely go get a chocolate martini from him! Rocio & Juan @ the bar next to the main pool are just WONDERFUL! They always addressed us by name, and Rocio helped me celebrate my birthday the right way! They were fantastic! Thank you!!

Our stay at Breathless was incredible; the room was great, the food was delicious, but the whole experience was taken over the top by our VIP concierge, Pablo. We have stayed in many top-rated hotels and resorts all around the world, but we have never felt so safe and comforted as we did at Breathless. We received a text message from our VIP every day about what activities would happen on the property and when. We were also told many times if we had any problems to let him know or if we were looking to have any experiences or see any shows. He was able to connect the dots with everything. We felt like celebrities and because of it we had an amazing trip.

This trip was amazing. The resort was beautiful and easy to navigate. The rooms are quite large and the location is isolated and quiet. The beach is beautiful, the food was delicious, the drinks were wonderful. The staff were all really friendly and the service was generally great. There are a lot of vegan and vegetarian options which was great! All the events were really enjoyable and overall it was a really relaxing and memorable vacation! The resort itself was beautiful but there were pros and cons. More cons than I wanted. Pool closed at 6 pm so no night swimming which left little to do in the evenings. Drinks were weak, drank all day long with no effect. Food was the worst. The buffet was terrible and was really our only option since the snack bar ran out of burgers, basically lived on chips and salsa the entire trip. The restaurants which you needed to make reservations for was a joke. The reservation app didn’t work so you had to wake am up at 6 am to stand in line until 8 am in hopes of getting a reservation. The service was not pleasant. Workers badly made eye contact with you and you always felt like you were bothering them when requesting a beverage or asking a question. The resort has potential if they stopped it up on service, food, drinks and entertainment.

Our stay at TRS Cap Cana was FANTASTIC! Yes, there is algae, but that did not take away from the great time my husband and I had. The hotel is beautiful despite some updating it may need. The staff was so friendly; Alejandro was a master at the grill. The waiters, Baily, Juan, and Melvin, were phenomenal. Angel, the pool bartender, made delicious mixed drinks. The vibe is quiet which I loved. We went to Punta Cana for much-needed R&R and TRS was just the place for that. We plan to return.

This was our first time in Dominicana and we chose this hotel because our tour operator said it was new and we actually liked the pics (they are real by the way, not like in the majority of the hotels where they post only the best to attract guests). First thing that impressed us was that all staff was wearing masks at all times everywhere: inside and outside! No matter if they were showing sport exercises, cleaning or dancing in the lobby in the evening, they were always in masks! Then sanitizers everywhere . Temperature control at the entrance to the hotel and to all restaurants. The staff also makes sure you are wearing a mask and gloves when picking food. Everyone was polite helping and smiling all the time. I will name only some people here just because I didn't take photos of all names, so sorry if I didn't name you. All receptionists were ready to help and solve any problem you have. Bieavenido (thanks for late night talk, now I know when is the Independence day in Dominicana!😊). All our requests were satisfied within 5-15minutes (not Dominican minutes👆🤣). Guys at the restaurant all who were welcoming, thank you for giving us masks and gloves when we were too overwhelmed with holiday activities and forgot to get them🙈. Thank you for always wishing us good morning, nice day and smiling! Guys who take orders inside the restaurants and my Spanish teachers😅 Ramon, Antonio, Wilsoooooon Rincon, muchos gracias! Mr Esequiel’s daily, professional, kindness and warmth was something that myself and my fiancé looked forward to whenever we had our wonderful meals, drinks and desserts and of course his fellow colleagues were just as helpful. Triplex is amazing with his entertainment and charm and went out of his way to play the music we requested, organizing yoga, aerobics, bachata and maintaining an amazing vibe. Hey all! As you have all expressed your fantastic thoughts, opinions and tips. I thought I would do the same. Your helpful hints and explanations were a great guide for us and I hope to do the same! A little background….we are a family of 4 (kid 10/4) traveling with another family of 4 (10/8). We had a master bedroom suite (club room 2311). We all went to the Finest last year and had a wonderful time as well. We have traveled to the DR frequently. 1. Arrival- we decided to do VIP arrival only because last year we were 30 minutes delayed from Newark and immagration took almost two hours and it was a night mare for us. The other party we flew with did not but the VIP and they were at the resort about 45 minutes after us. So in the end because of my 4 year old it was worth it. We started the vacation in the right mood VIP picks you up by golf cart from the plane to the VIP lounge. Your attend brings you in take your passports and transportation information and you are free to roam the small lounge. Soda, water beer wine and snacks are all there for your taking. She took our bag claim ticket to receive our luggage within 5 minutes we were out and off with beer wine water snacks in hand. They have a lovely bathroom (that we were barely able to use because it was so quick). We used destination meeting point for transfer without an problems… 25 minutes later we pulled up 2. We were greeted immediately, offered our name and was given our baggage tags. Whisked off to club lounge where we started the quick check in process. I asked to be introduced to our butler and Will was there waiting for us. He was the best! We saw him everyday he helped with reservations for 8. On the club level you can have bottle of non brand wine and liquor with mixers brought to your room. He made sure there was a bottle of wine and Dominican rum with mixers case of water, he would have cheese and crackers sent to our room chocolate covered strawberries alll without asking. He set up our room cleaning times and was a pleasure to be around. I will note we gave him $30 on check in $10 in between and $50 on our wait out. He was worth it in our opinion Key here is ask for what you are offer, need and want. Tip appropriate and all things will come to you 😀🤣 2. Our room was amazing spacious and lovely. We were 2311 (building 2) (floor 3) (11). If you are ocean view you want the last two number to be lower. The lower the number the closer to the beach! 3. I thought the food was amazing considering AI and the Finest last year. Remotest noodle and thread a must. The buffet Mercado was great too. Breakfast amazing and had some great dinner nights too We did waves for adults only dinner. Considering DR it was good. But if you are steak person you might be over the moon The coffee shop and ice pops and desserts are fantastic! 4. The resort is beautiful. Stayed for 10 days in Sun Club Adult section. Room was very nice. Overall service was excellent … concierge, restaurants, beach bars and towels, maid service. Tried all the restaurants and had very good meals at all of them. Beach restaurants were very good too. First come first serve, we encountered no line ups when we went early. Favourites were Japanese and Italian venues. Mixology bar was a unique experience every night. Nightly entertainment geared to all ages. Lots of day time activities for kids. Beach was beautiful. Staff was very accommodating. Exceeded our expectations. No disappointments. Would definitely return.

So far everything is okay, nice pool area, gym also OK. TV and WiFi disastrous. TV Problematic with the internet, very annoying because the internet was way too slow, one night even a total failure. Watch out for extras. For example late check out until 3pm costs 25 US$ plus 18% tax plus 10% service charge, madness???? And, beware of the misleading booking. Because Garden View rooms are actually on the side of the street - so no garden. Only pool side rooms have garden etc. Restaurant prices very very high due to additional taxes and fees.

We stayed at Manaya for one night before going back home via the Punta Cana Airport. We were just looking for something cheap and close to the airport. I didn’t expect much but was totally surprised by the hotel. The owners are very very kind. Eventhough i don’t speak Spanish they tried to make me feel comfortable. Everything is decorated with love and care. Breakfast is amazing. The backyard which includes a pool is very cozy. I can recommend this B&B!

The hotel was very nice, the drinks were delicious, people were very friendly (workers and other guests), and the pool and he ah were fun with lots of different activities to do everyday. The night life is also great. Epically Looky looky aye aye aye, the prince of chocolate, juaninamillion, two Carlos’s from the pool, Kendall, and Angel were all wonderful people who went out of our way to make sure we had a great time and were very welcoming. They made us feel like we have know each other years.

Our stay at TRS Cap Cana was FANTASTIC! Yes, there is algae, but that did not take away from the great time my husband and I had. The hotel is beautiful despite some updating it may need. The staff was so friendly; Alejandro was a master at the grill. The waiters, Baily, Juan, and Melvin, were phenomenal. Angel, the pool bartender, made delicious mixed drinks. The vibe is quiet which I loved. We went to Punta Cana for much-needed R&R and TRS was just the place for that. We plan to return.

Overall a great experience. My boyfriend and I went here as our first time flying out of the country. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Out of the entire resort we only came across one staff member who wasn’t the best. We would recommend this resort to anyone! The staff here is always happy and having a good time with the guests. The only negative is that the buffet food isn’t my absolute favorite but I am a picky eater and still found things to eat. Another negative is the guests who come to Punta Cana are mostly from Europe so there is a lot of smoking but that will happen at any resort, and the resort is not adults only although the only time children were noticeable to us were at the main pool. If you stay in the swim up bar pool or on the beach children aren’t that noticeable. The night time entertainment is geared towards children earlier on (before 8:30 i’d say) and then after that it becomes more dancing and singing for the adults. The resort was very clean and easy to navigate between the map you’re given upon check in and their app. Through the RIU app we were able to request more towels, room service, sheets changed, etc, all while at the pool or beach. At this resort you get a little bit of everything! I would compare this resort to a cruise on land. It’s very big with lots to do and see and you won’t regret staying here.

We stay here for the first time, and we love it, check in was not that great, they gave us the wrong room number so we have to walk back to reception..long walk..they don't have early check in (Don't. MIND paying extra for it) is a big property not overwhelming pools are close to the rooms..beach also..the rooms were Good the cleaning personnel was awesome, buffet wasn't huge but the quality was great we loved it...

Convenient if you drive car. Very close to highway so you can easily drive to the most popular locations in North-Eastern Dominicana. There’s nice territory near hotel’s swimming pool where you can chill and enjoy the birds singing. The breakfast is good. Stuff very friendly and helpful
