The hotel room is quite old. Light switches do not function well. Wifi is weak. The phone in the room doesn't work. The refrigerator does not work. The air conditioner works well. Breakfast is good. Receptionists are nice and helpful.

It was such an unique experience to stay in a hotel inside the ancient city wall, it felt like travelled back to China in the olden days. As it was off-peak season when we visited 山海关，we were upgraded to a family room, which mean there is a separate bedroom with a single bed, on top of a master room with a double bed. As it was rather cold and we were tired from all the walking, we decided to make life easy by eating at the restaurant within the hotel. We didn't expect much though. But..., we were much much more than surprise the dishes were Ace standard, be it in presentation or taste! A big big thumb up! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. All in all, we really enjoyed the service extended to us! It is no doubt hotel staff in China places their guests at top priority, making them feel at home at all times. P.S the teapot was not filled with tea but a yummilicious 松茸汤。

Upsides: charming low-rise hotel; convenient location in the old town, friendly and helpful staff (though limited English), generous buffet breakfast Downsides: a raucous and chain-smoking (but amicable) group of other guests. A leaking washbasin (fixed promptly). No bar. Would stay happily again.

Excellent location near the west gate of the walled town . Walking distance to all corners of the old town. The hotel is built in ancient Chinese style and is a popular photo spot for tourists. The room is not well soundproofed but, fortunate for us, noises were minimal during sleep hours. Shower and air-conditioning (heating) could be improved.

This is a very well-appointed and comfortable hotel located within the old town walls of Shanhaiguan, 50 yards or so from the east gate. It is built and decorated in the traditional style of the area. Large, comfortable beds, the a/c unit warms the room. A filling and varied breakfast is delivered to the room in the morning. The staff are cheerful and pleasant. The hotel boasts a restaurant in a separate building which serves a wide selection of delicious food. Private dining rooms are available. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would be very happy to return.

I had a very good stay. The first room they gave me, there was mold in the bathroom. It was quickly resolved as they upgraded my room. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Location is amazing, right in the centre of the old town. Will definitely be returning!

The location is good, and it is a ten-minute walk from the Tianxia Diyiguan scenic spot. The service staff has a very good attitude and is very enthusiastic. They also introduced me to the tour route, which is very considerate. The room is fully equipped, clean and tidy, making people feel very comfortable. The breakfast is self-service, and the dishes are rich and complete. A very satisfactory stay experience

The hotel is very big and the location is not far from Ximen The price is quite affordable It can be seen that the facilities are a bit old But hygiene is still okay It's just that the sound insulation is really not very good. Other impeccable

I came to Shanhaiguan for a trip and accidentally saw the Shanhai Holiday Hotel in the ancient city. I still feel that hotels are safer and more reliable than staying in B&Bs. Moreover, this hotel is designed in antique style from the exterior to the inside and outside. Many of them use mortise and tenon structures, which are worth taking pictures. After checking in, the staff were very warm and considerate. The room attendant also recommended local specialties, such as hotpot and old ice cream. I watched a performance and had a meal in the first pass. This trip was very successful. Shanhai Holiday Hotel contributed to this success. I will bring my family and friends to stay here if I have the chance in the future.

It is a state-owned hotel located in the ancient city, affiliated to Hebei Cultural Tourism Group. The exterior of the hotel is very antique and distinctive. It was formerly a modern private school. The front desk staff was very friendly and gave two small fans when checking out. Because the decoration time is a little long, the facilities are a bit old, and the air conditioning in the room is a bit cold. The hotel's Jinyu Mantang restaurant is pretty good. The breakfast is very rich and complete, and there are freshly cooked pepper noodles, which are much better than the breakfast outside. If you don't really want to stay in a homestay, this one is more recommended!
