The hotel has a very unique and interesting design style that makes it stand out. Everything was spotless, and the rooms were perfectly clean and well kept. Breakfasts were delicious. The staff at the reception were always friendly, welcoming, and very helpful, which made the stay even more pleasant.

We stayed for 3 night during our visit to Quito. The entrance looks a little shabby, as does the rooftop patio, but don’t let this put you off. The staff are very friendly, rooms are clean and spacious, breakfasts are good and there is a cracking restaurant in the basement. The location is close to the old town and a number of nearby eateries (Secret Garden, Sushi and Italian).

Comfortable and good location. We stayed at Chakana on 3 separate occasions during our Ecuadorian adventure. We had a different room every stay, and all waste brilliantly. The rooms are spacious, have windows that open (I like a bit of fresh air in a room ) and well appointed bathrooms with soap, shampoo and toilet paper. The hotel itself is quirky with lots of local artefacts. Very interesting to look at. There's a supermarket just down the street an a little convenience store across the way (which sells beer and wine) There's a restaurant where breakfast is served, delicious, fresh made and plentiful. They also do dinner -separate review for that. The owners went out of their way to make our stays as comfortable as possible. The only "downfall" is there is no lift over the 3 stories. Wasn't an issue for us, but if you're not that fit, this place isn't for you.

Great little gem in historic Quito. Michele, the manager, was so warm and welcoming. We arrived late in the evening and she was there to greet us and settled us into our room. Michelle was so helpful in offering us ideas of things to do and even made us a sandwich our last night there because we were leaving in the morning before breakfast. I would definitely stay here again when in Quito and highly recommend for others.

I have not yet stayed at this hotel. I booked to stay in late January but unfortunately went down with cellulitis, a serious bacterial infection, on January 8th. I e-mailed the hotel on the 10th, 11th and 12th January to inform them that I had to cancel, apologising and asking that they can confirm they have received the information. On each occasion they have not responded. This mirrors earlier communication where I had to e-mail four or five times with a query before I got a response. If they will contact me I will take down this review.

Fabulous small hotel for the independent traveller. Rooms are decorated in vibrant designs inspired by traditional culture. Showers are hot, beds are comfy. The staff are really welcoming and full of advice on what to see and where to go in Quito. Breakfast scrumptious. Easy and safe walking distance to the old town sights.

We enjoyed our stay at Chakana. We were greeted by Awki who provided a tour of the hotel and explained the significance of the Chakana in indigenous culture. Our room was suitable for the cost. Not lavish, but certainly comfortable. Breakfast was delicious (and included) and was a great way to start our days touring around Quito. While we did not have dinner, in speaking to others at the hotel who did, they thought it was very good.
