We had booked and paid for two nights stay. All arranged several months ago within a busy itinerary. Have learned today that the hotel has cancelled our room because it has received a request for a block booking. In essence this means that those considering booking here are not guaranteed it will be honoured, even if paid in advanced. If the hotel gets what it considers a better offer, you could find yourself looking for alternative accommodation a week prior to your trip. I cannot comment on any other aspect of the hotel: it all looks lovely, hence our booking. There are s few negative reviews but as a seasoned traveller, I have learned to take poor reviews with a pinch of salt. You are free to treat my comments similarly. I would just ask you to consider our experience when booking in Rabat as, in my humble opinion, this is dishonourable, unprofessional practice.

Air conditioning in our room was broken for two days in August, forcing us to sleep in extreme heat. Staff were unhelpful, rude, and dismissive — the receptionist even said it was “not a problem.” No apology, no compensation. We would not recommend the pool due to hygiene issues. — Miriam

Beautiful place. Excellent hospitality, great breakfast We had just arrived after traveling for over 24 hours at Dar Shaan in Rabat and we were hungry very early in the late afternoon around 5 pm. Normal dinnertime is around 7:30pm. Dar Shaan is in the Medina and we had no idea of where we could get an early dinner. The Medinas are a maze of streets. The gentleman at the front desk walked us to a restaurant , but it was still too early and then made a call to another and walked us there for a very memorable dinner. That was our introduction to Moroccan hospitality. Breakfast at Dar Shaan was excellent in very nice surroundings.

This Riad is okay but we are VERY unhappy with our room on the ground floor. There is one window without glazing that opens directly onto the small atrium/ reception area. To have any visual privacy you need to close a shutter and be devoid of any natural light let alone view. There is no audio privacy—- we hear everything going on in the reception area and adjacent room. The manager claimed they couldn’t move us to another room (many were vacant at the time we checked in) because a group staying more nights than us had priority. A tour agency booked this room for us and had I known in advance how unpleasant this room was I would have insisted on a different Riad. The manager should have at least tried to accommodate us. Not recommended

My wife and I stayed one night at this property and wished we had stayed longer. The property is well situated and relatively easy to find. However one has to drag one's suitcase down a long alley to get to the establishment. The staff were all wonderful and service oriented. The breakfast buffet spread is copious and good. The chef prepared us a vegetarian meal for dinner which was excellent. Highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Rabat and wishing to stay in the Medina.

After travelling through Morocco and experiencing the amazing quality, care and hospitality at all the riads we stayed at, we were very disappointed. Little care on arrival, bed linen felt grubby, concerns with security of room and poor service.

This was our first stay in a traditional dar, and it did not disappoint! Lovely rooms and very helpful staff. If we return to Rabat, I would definitely stay here again! They also organized a city tour for us with Asmae and she was extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend a few hours with.
