Linda and Mike were outstanding hosts and welcoming to us. They were accommodating to special diet needs, and anxious to meet our requests. Food was delicious, the sitting area was cozy and our room was perfect. If it were possible we’d give 10 stars. Mike us a tour of the mill and a history of the property that made the whole experience fulfilling.

When we arrived the room was 85 degrees. The windows were open and the humidity was so high the bedding felt damp. Whole room smelled of mildew and was decorated with dusty and tattered junk like what you might pull out of your basement for a yard sale. The tiny window box AC unit took 2 hours to cool the room. In fairness the bathroom was nice and the screen porch in the main building had a lovely view of a waterfall. However, the screen porch is also filled with dusty junk, and smells of mildew. Breakfast was waffles, pastries, and fruit. It was actually pretty good, but my stomach was in knots because the lady that runs it was so mean to us at check in I was actively avoiding her whenever possible. We were the only guests and I can see why. Would not stay there again if they paid me. It’s sad, because the location is nice, but it’s badly mismanaged. Avoid if possible.

Been twice. Love the room near the wheel, slept like a log both trips. Very relaxing and peaceful place. Highly recommend it!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was spacious and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water. The breakfast was very classy. The hosts asked what time we wanted to eat and when we got down there, a lovely table was set for us with china and cloth napkins. There were several delicious dishes served each day, with many ingredients sourced locally. We enjoyed the tour of the mill and all the information the host shared with us about its history. It's still in operation today. Clayton is only about 10 minutes away and they provided us several good restaurant recommendations. Overall, a great experience.

We were there almost 2 months ago in December and I am just now writing a review. We had a great time. We stayed 5 nights. Just wanted a getaway for awhile. The area is not at its prettiest in early Dec., but we knew that. We cherish our stay at Sylvan Falls Mill. Linda & Mike are super nice people. We had some excellent conversations and they know their community so well. All breakfasts are made using local organic ingredients (farm to table) and were excellent. If you are looking for 5 star accommodations, this aint the place. But, It is a very homey comfortable place. It is a great place to recharge your batteries, so to speak. Would we return? In a heartbeat!

This was a memorable experience of a lifetime! Linda and Mike were very gracious and lovely hosts. Our entire family went for two days for my husband's 70th birthday. It was so amazing. Every need was catered to before we could even ask. I can't wait to go back again. Linda and Mike are fantastic cooks and provided us with thoughtful and delicious meals. This place will be our family's go to from now on. The rooms and property were clean. The waterfall is amazing. I have been telling Linda and Mike that I want to keep this place to myself, but really, it is too good not to share.

I have seen this wonderful place listed in some of my waterfall hiking books. It had two of my favorite things, waterfalls and old grist mills. We came to stay there and hike in the area on our anniversary. We stayed in the waterfall room. It was decorated with beautiful antiques. But the best feature of the room is you can see and hear the waterfall. The sound of the waterfall was heavenly. The room also had a ceiling fan that brought in that cool mountain air. But the best feature of the inn is the husband and wife, Linda and Mike. They made us feel welcome and at home. Everything was peaceful. Linda asks the guest before they arrive if they have any food allergies. They try very hard to be very accommodating to their guests. She served us breakfast on the screened porch overlooking the beautiful waterfall. The breakfast was delicious (homemade crepes & skillet potatoes with Hollandaise sauce). We also were served some wonderful pastries and muffins each day for breakfast that featured some of the corn meal or wheat flour that was milled at their old grist mill. The food was top notch. The atmosphere was so relaxing. And you did not feel rushed on eating or anything during our stay. They have also worked hard on the grounds and landscaping. You can go out and sit on the benches in the yard in front of the waterfall and just relax. Both Linda and Mike also offered tips on where to eat in the local area. Each bedroom is private and each has a private bathroom. There are 4 bedrooms. You do not feel crowded there. They also go out of their way to give the guests their privacy. But they also take the time to chat with you if like to socialize. I think they work hard giving the guests what they need. I hope to go back someday. They made us feel welcome. We had a peaceful easy feeling.
