Nautilus Resort

Nautilus Resort ★★★★

📍 Ara Tapu, Ngatangiia

"For the price hmm not sure about the prices ,rooms were clean ,but food was disappointing. Breakfast was very average, I could not get passed the amount of ants around the food. Ordering scrambled eggs which the serve with a nice fresh toast ,yet they don’t have the same bread for you to taost yourself.the ones on display,go like cardboard. Now I don’t mind dogs ,but be weary ,as dog fights occur ,like they did at the hotel .parents just watching children in the middle of a dog fight and don’t do anything but watch .nothing a boot didn’t fix . They also don’t have much on ,and when there are things on at the hotel ,you kinda walk into it by accident.not knowing . We had lunch there which was awesome the food was on point ,only problem was it was done by outside catering, told them they should do the food here all the time"

The Black Pearl Beachside Apartments ★★★

📍 Ara Tapu, Arorangi

"Loved the Black Pearl, so good we came back! We had a group of us, 4 rooms, 8 nights. We then moved hotels to be closer to our family home but we ended up going back to the Black Pearl as we loved it so much. Stayed a total of 13 nights in a Kabana. Paul, Lily & Rangi all made our stay enjoyable. Everything you need is close by, nice beach right across the road, clean pool and awesome BBQ area."

Central Motel
7.4 (3 reviews)

Central Motel ★★

📍 Takuvaine Road, Avarua

"Had a great time staying at Central Motel! The local was perfect. I didn't need to rent a car during my stay because everything was walkable. My wife and I were able to walk to the markets, shops, local restaurants, and a gym nearby. The room we stayed in was clean and comfortable with a new smart TV and aircon. Overall I'd say this is the best value accommodation on the island. It's not beachfront, but it has everything you need to experience Rarotonga to the fullest. There is beach/water access via Trader Jack's just 1km up the road. I would recommend this spot to anyone that's looking to visit Rarotonga without breaking the bank. PS- the owners/management were extremely kind and helpful"

Little Polynesian Resort

📍 Main Road - Titikaveka, Takitumu

"A very nice hotel, the staff are very helpful, and there are many activities to choose from on the island beach, including kayaking and snorkeling equipment. The hotel environment is also great, with many dogs."

Rarotonga GolfSeaView Hotels in Rarotonga

Rarotonga GolfSeaView

"Rarotonga GolfSeaView was a good spot to stay. We just spent 1 night while waiting for our flight home early the next day. Rooms were clean and well equipped. It was nice to be able to walk down to Black Rock. It was close to the airport so was an easy transfer in the morning via Tiare Transport. It was also just down the road from Antipodes Restaurant, where we had booked in for a great dinner. Other rooms seemed to be occupied by families and groups which these units would be suited to. Would need a car if you wanted to explore further afield. A good choice for those that want to self-cater and don’t want to pay resort prices."

"This is our second stay here. Absolutely love it. The rooms are lovely, the staff are all so helpful, friendly and accommodating. The onsite restaurant is lovely so you don't have to go anywhere if you don't want.Great cocktails Love the outside showers, gardens are immaculate thanks to the hardworking groundsmen. Overall can't fault anything so we are planning our7th trip to the lovely Rarotonga and our favorite resort."

The Cooks Oasis Hotels in Rarotonga

The Cooks Oasis

"There are cockroaches and mosquitoes in the room, and the safe is locked and cannot be used, but the waiter came over for 3 hours on Saturday to help me see valuables! The refrigerator is noisy at night! The main window is a bit noisy for the pool! The advantage is that it is aboutblack rock500 meters away from black rock500 and you can snorkel from the nearby sea to play, although there are reefs and seagrass on the way."

Reflections on Rarotonga Hotels in Rarotonga

Reflections on Rarotonga

"The villa, although not new, is well-maintained and equipped with everything necessary. The owner is accommodating and responsive. We checked in on December 30th and discovered the air conditioning in one bedroom wasn't working. We called the contact number, and they arranged for it to be repaired on December 31st! Special thanks. We asked for masks and fins, and they arrived within an hour. We asked for an extra hour, and they agreed without complaining, even though the cleaners arrived on time and waited for us to vacate the villa. FYI: The villa consists of two identical two-story villas, each with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and everything else. These villas are not connected, but if you have a large group or family, it's easy to access each other via the beach or through the front doors. Disadvantages: The swimming pools at both villas are not on the seaside, but in the courtyard. The sliding doors to the first-floor bedroom are already outdated and in need of replacement. The front and side windows lack blackout curtains, something that has long been implemented even in hotels and villas of a much lower class, but less recent."

Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas Hotels in Rarotonga

Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas

"The most incredible spot in Raro! Private and quiet with jaw dropping views! We were so well taken care of, Marianne is incredible and so attentive! Details and specifics of our stay were addressed and so much wonderful hospitality and charm—we will be back for sure 🌅"

Te Vakaroa Villas Hotels in Rarotonga

Te Vakaroa Villas

"The hotel is tiny with only six suites. Breakfast is delivered to your room, but the selection is pitifully small and mostly cold dishes; there aren't even fried eggs. The hotel doesn't have its own restaurant, so it can't serve lunch or dinner. There were too many mosquitoes indoors, and my arms and legs were covered in bites. The airport transfer was overpriced, and the drop-off was a shared ride. There was no toothpaste or toothbrush in the room, so you had to buy them yourself at the supermarket. The shampoo and shower gel were also unusable, producing lots of sparse foam. At nearly 4,000 yuan a day, it's not worth it. I hope anyone reading my review will choose carefully!"

Rumours Luxury Villas & Spa

"great start with friendly John who met us at the airport. wonderful room right on the beach with a great plunge pool and hot tub out front. total privacy. very quiet with exceptional staff very eager to help with anything you need. Thanks so much to Toni for all your help. We stayed in villa #4 and had some ac issues but they were resolved quickly and a new one was to be installed the day we left. Full kitchen and some nice champagne and snacks waiting for us when we arrived. Loved it!"

"Te Manava is a truly lovely relaxing, private, quiet, well equipped, place to stay. Everything is there for you..except food, which is available nearby or at the resort. The staff are exceptional, our suite was spotless, as are the grounds."

Palm Grove Hotels in Rarotonga

Palm Grove

"Palm Grove is as close to perfect as you can get. We stayed in a Bungalow (which was clean and have everything you need) on the beach, and spent days swimming, snorkeling and Kayaking. The resort is immaculate, if it was windy at the beach we spent time by the pool which was protected from the wind. The staff are exceptional, so friendly, and really helpful. The Restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. The resort has a bus stop, and is only a couple of hundred metres from a Supermarket and other restaurants. I'm not sure how they could improve."

Castaway Resort Hotels in Rarotonga

Castaway Resort

"Wonderful Beachfront Location and Excellent Value Castaway Resort enjoys an amazing beachfront location. It was well sheltered from the strong seasonal winds we experienced elsewhere on the island, making it a peaceful and comfortable place to stay. Our accommodation was a good size, and we appreciated having a separate lounge area and small kitchenette. The television reception was fuzzy, possibly due to the aerial, but this was of little consequence to us. The sofa bed, however, was well past its useful life. The deep dip in the middle made it uncomfortable to use even as a sofa unless it was filled with pillows and cushions. The pool area is functional but looks tired and would benefit from some maintenance and updating. Wi-Fi is available only in the restaurant and other public areas, not in the rooms, which made working a little inconvenient. However, this was clearly stated in the resort’s description before booking, so it was not unexpected. The staff were amazing. Aileen, our housekeeper, and Firaz and Nather in the restaurant deserve special recognition. They were extremely personable, attentive and always willing to go the extra mile. The restaurant serves well-prepared and beautifully presented local food. Its beachfront position is a particular highlight, and enjoying cocktails there at sunset became one of the best parts of each day. Overall, Castaway Resort offers very good value for money, and we would happily recommend it. The calm beachfront setting, friendly staff and beautiful sunsets make any minor inconveniences pale into insignificance. A stay here is unlikely to disappoint."

Nautilus Resort ★★★★
"Confusing place. We visited one evening for a drink - we were staying locally. Sat outside (inside was clearly for in house guests and our preference was for outside anyway). Felt a bit like Siberia as we waited an age for service. Great spot for a drink, drinks were great and the lovely waitress who eventually served us was delightful. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and bring the rest of the family back a few nights later for the NY poolside party advertised on the blackboard out front as being open to all from 8pm. I checked with reception on our way out to confirm this was OK - she said NY was for in-house guests only. When I told her about the blackboard out front she knew nothing about it but said if that’s what it said it must be right. We had a delightful dinner elsewhere and headed to nautilus at 8.15pm. Jumped on by the Maitre D who couldn’t even manage a hello - rather just a ‘you’re here too early’. Plainly he hadn’t seen the sign either? Anyway - we stayed for a drink - sat outside in Siberia again - there was no vibe and no service. In house guests appeared put out that ‘outsiders’ were walking past their table by the door to access the bar (we had to given nobody came to us). We left after that. Went down the road and had a fabulous night with brilliant service. Nautilus overall had a pretentious feel which isn’t compatible with Rarotonga and was by far the worst experience of our 10 day trip. I’ve just written 8 rave reviews on other places but not for this one. Would suggest staff training and communication about what’s going on at the place might be in order as a start!"

"It's right opposite the airport, so I chose it because it's the most convenient place because my flight arrived in the early morning. The stay is short and the price is affordable. It's good for just one night. As for the accommodation environment, it is directly proportional to the price, so just don’t have expectations!"

Central Motel ★★
"This hotel has the best city location in Avarua - the capital of the Cook Islands. It is a 5 minute walk to supermarkets, nightclubs and wide range of shops. The rooms are quite spacious and the beds comfortable. The rooms has good air-conditioning. I was also allowed to access my room at 9:00am, well before check inn time - I really appreciate the management team, for making this possible. There is a small pool, which appeared to be clean and well maintained. However, there was some negatives. I saw a large cockroach in the bathroom. Although, they claim to include free wifi, it a very limited service. They includes 2 vouchers, which just Ok to view email. If you want to watch a video for about 5 minutes, the voucher is gone. However, reliable internet and affordable internet is a big issue in the Cook Islands. There is only one channel available on the TV. Don't be put off by the exterior of the building, which is not the best. The rooms are OK, and have all the essentials. The rates at this hotel are very favourable, when compared to pricey resorts, a long way from the centre of Avarua. I would still recommend this hotel for location and price."
